She phoned me over the weekend to say she couldn't come and see me, but would come over during the week and specifically asked if we could go as she hadn't been for a while <yikes>

On another sad note, do you remember a while ago I explained how Bakky Dave's Mrs had cancer? Shes' 72 and went through radio and chemo, ultimately followed by an 8 hour operation. She was ultimately given the all-clear. She's now back in hospital, having been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. She's a lovely woman. How can someone so nice cop for this ****ing **** twice? <doh>

It's horrible isnt it but apparantly 1 in 3 people now will get cancer of some sort in their lifetime. I guess the only consolation is that she's had a good innings at 72 (if not more hopefully) but its a horrible disease. My dad went down with it before he was even 60! I saw first hand how much it affected him.

I don't know whether it's better for someone to go suddenly which will be a shock or if it's better for a longer prolonged one so you are prepared?

    I dunno... really don't.

Saw the wife's sister's father in law go with it recently... yes that removed by degrees. The widow is heartbroken at home.

There's someone in work who's husbands father dies by it one year ago next month and she says he's all about the anniversary.

It ****ing affects everyone. Its a right horrible ****ty thing.

Its such a horrid bloody treatment as well. its just a killer in itself.

I saw her hubby at the Cheese last night. Apparently she looked 'great' and they were going to let her come home, but she's constipated, so they need to sort that.

The fact that she looks 'great' and they're on about letting her go home both worry me intensely. I've heard and seen this before, but I didn't tell him that <doh>

It's the fact she's been through the full hit once already. She's such a lovely woman.

yes, this time its inoperable? so its a choice to go through it all or go do something togehter i suppose.

though the old guy i referred to went through the full treatment knowing it wa sno good to keep the wife happy. He might have got a few months longe rout of it.

A change of topic. My eldest called me when I was having a pint last night. She applied for another job last week. It's at the 6th form college she did her a levels at. It's got a very good reputation, but it's a state school and not private, so she'd have to take a hit on salary. Plus side is she wouldn't have to drive to Crosby and back every day. But get this: apparently, in the world of teaching, references are required to be taken PRIOR TO the interview <yikes> That meant she had to tell her head of department and the head teacher she was going for an interview on Thursday. She said it was good for her 'professional development.

What sort of ludicrous ****ing set-up is that? I can imagine what would happen if I said the same to my boss <laugh>

    Public sector mate, different world.

They live in a bubble, and that bubble is still floating around in the 1970's

also my advice... never go back.

IF she was a student at the school there will be at least some of the teachers who will treat her like a student always.

Strange incident last night. I was sat outside enjoying a doob with a couple of others. There were some lads outside (lemoheads). A silver van pulled up. two gyppos jumped out and started smacking one of the other lads, who ran off. They jumped back into the van and screeched off. That was it. ****ing bizarre <laugh>

I'd say women...women cause a lot of the worlds problems. Whereas money and drugs do not. <ok>
