SKP is my footballing hero. I've got his book and everything, so I'm pretty much bang on with my knowledge on him.

Everything else is just down to football being my life, every single day I'm watching it and I'm often looking through records. I suppose everything sticks because of how important to my life it is.

My daughter's boyfriend is an Arsenal fan. I've got him on Not606 now.

When we're down the pub, talking about footy, and we get into arguments round bullshit corner, about whatever, or signing foreign players, etc, the stuff he comes out with is incredible! He's just mad about the game! Lives it! So I totally get where 83 is coming from. If it's in your blood.....

Yep. It gives me a lease of life, mate. I'm much happier in myself when I've got football as an active part of my life. For years though I never played, and for one reason or another, I never got back into it. As you know I've had/have my dark days and when there's no interest in your life, there's nothing to look forward to or pull you out of it. I never kicked a ball in anger for about 7 years and it was very rare that I went along to watch Sunderland.

Now I'm doing both and my mind is constantly stimulated which is why I suppose I'm a lot better these days, it's a pattern which has been noticed by members of my family as well. That's why I'll always be grateful to our very own Gordon Armstrong from this board, it was him who got me playing again and it's had a massive, positive change on my life. I've told him a couple of times, but I don't think he takes it in just how much it has helped me in my life.

I can appreciate that. Guess im the opposite.

    You know the stories
Im from fulwell. I lived 5 mins from the ground. Half my family worked at roker park. Delivering bob stokoes papers. Blah blah

It will always be there. I just hope i get to take my dad to the SOL one last time. As he was a miner working underneath that ground.

Its different for me. I knew nothing else. That was my home. Roker park. Bith park and football ground were just there. I knew no different.

Took them for granted. Yet feel slightly detached from them now.

I agree - I think he's a technically gifted player but not tough/disciplined enough for the league.

For me this is simple, Vito remains in place and Pickford plays every cup game for now.

Vito ha been a quality lad and focused even when out of side, I don't want Pickford to be Alnwick Mark 2 I want him properly handled and slowly integrated.

    It is and it isn't.

Understandably Picks will feel ready to step up, and he looks it, but he's still incredibly young for a goalkeeper.

I guess Sam makes a decision pre-season but short of Vito getting a dream move to a big club in Italy I can't see a reason for him to move out.

We always do well with keepers.

Pickfords time will come cos Vito will **** up eventually. But Pickford could do with games, not sitting on a bench.

Whats best for him? ****ed if i know.

That's the tough part mate, he needs games so the logic is a loan, but then we want him at the club at this stage and we want him developing and part of the first team squad.

He's gonna be our number 1 for 10-15 years hopefully, so if there was conflict over playing time I guess we would have to prioritise Jordan.

Hopefully he's ok with another year behind Vito, cos for me that's the ideal situation.
