You quoted how we used to change managers between Busby and Fergie The fact you then didnt realise that Atkinson was one of those managers and the fact that the difference between then and now is precisely to do with HOW THE TEAM PLAYED UNDER all managers shows precisely why you're a simpleton and missed the POINT. Has the penny dropped? Or do I need to drop pictures lol. It was YOU who was comparing LVG with the likes of Atkinson with your ignorant post in the first place
Like I said though, if you're that sure Mourinho will be sacked within a season I'd get yourself down the bookies.
I was talking about lengths of time coaches stayed. YOU mentioned Atkinson I didn't. Why Atkinson? Why haven't you mentioned Sexton or Docherty or O'Farrell. You queer for Atkinson or something. I did know Atkinson was one of those coaches, what's your point about Atkinson?
I am NOT talking about how each coach made your team play. I am talking about the frequency of change and nothing more.
Yeh that tanned face and cheeky smile really turned me on. That and the fact I grew up watching United under him. But the reason I picked him was bcos I think if he was getting sacked right now I'd agree with you. I'd want to give him more time, even if that meant little success. I'd agree that United would be making the same mistakes of 30-40 years ago. But NOT in the case with Van Gaal. He was a unique case unlike any manager I've watched manage United. It wasn't about the results, it wasnt about what he won. It was the the standard of football which was god awful and impossible to watch. The team was not entertaining, was not competitive, and demonstrated little skill from Van Gaal. Normally you'd be right in what you said, but not here. For the reasons I've given we had no choice, his position became untenable for those reasons, which is why I asked you what football means to you as a sport. Now you can brush that away if you like, that's up to you, but no way is this comparable to the period before Fergie as far as I can remember.
Ok Treble, so would you have sacrificed a trophy for better football because Jose's teams have been criticised for dull football too.
Dave Sexton's United were pretty dour actually. They also didn't compete in the league. Was sacked for that very reason, he's a more like for like comparison with van Gaal.
I really don't know what upset you all. Besides even if I don't know as much about football as you boys it doesn't stop me posting does it?
I can only speak for myself but I wouldnt give a **** to have a period with little success provided I could watch us playing expansive, entertainibg football and where you could see a team gelling, where young players were developing and there was a certain swagger about our football. I also think (might be wrong but I dont think so) that ppl will be surprised by Mourinho's style of football at United. I reckon the next 12 months may be ugly but after that, I think he'll make us enjoyable to watch.
Depends if it's about the actual football or the 'glory' of being linked to a trophy winning side, regardless of how its won. As it goes we did nicely in the cup but the league and Europe were utterly ****, unacceptably so really. Not good to watch.
I think if he gets a good CB, a DM and a box-box mid this window he may just go for it with what he has. A 25-30 goal striker would be good though
