It could be that AN is being practical about there being no 25 player limit in the Championship. Practicality isn't something very prominent on here (Dave excepted). Those thinking we will sign PL quality strikers and CBs are living in 'never never' land. It ain't going to happen folks. Pinto improved dramatically in his time here and Whittaker provides useful cover at both RB and LB. If we gain promotion he'll be off and we'll look to sign a PL quality replacement. As Dave says, it's a sensible move that leaves money to spend elsewhere.

 

I am reliably informed by FML, that they are NOT RB & LB they are Wingbacks? Mostly agree with your post.

Why pass up a golden opportunity to REALLY freshen up the squad. If I don't see some major changes in both the nucleus of the team and results, then this could be my last season as an ST holder!!!!

I want Josh Murphy, Harry Toffolo, and James Maddison in our squad for next season. I think all 3 are good enough, and have done enough to deserve a go.

Jacob Murphy I would also like, but think he's maybe a touch behind the other 3 at the moment. I'd like him involved, but would understand if he went on loan again for 1 more season.

 

Basically "I want my to have cake and eat it".

 

TOTALLY agree and all 3 should at least be in the squad!!! I'd add Carlton Morris to that as well.

 

He was another I thought about, but I think he was average for Hamilton? 8 goals in 33. In Scotland? I think he might need a loan to League 1 or a side just promoted to the Championship?

Another name I thought about was Todd Cantwell. The player scouted by Arsenal and a few others. Would it be worth having him on the bench/use him in cup games? First team games, if anything, might raise his value. If not, he shines and becomes a star for our promotion push.

As I keep saying I'm sure it's not AN who takes all the time on the phone sorting out a Fee, agreeing it, then talking out the wages, bonuses, clauses etc. I think that was mainly McNally playing hard ball with finances in mind.
