Left ear or right? That's important apparently.

Think we'll bring in a big striker, someone young who may take time but will come in to phase Defoe out and give him breaks throughout the season. We can't be as reliant on Defoe moving forward.

That Sebastian Haller has been rumoured quite a bit

He plays for Utrecht, mate. After Vincent Jannsen over there, he would be my choice as well. Big lad and he's had a great season, scoring for fun.

Wouldn't cost a fortune and I think he'd probably understand if he wasn't a guarenteed starter and needed time to bed in.

That he would... he's still quite raw and not quite ready like Jannsen would be. There's rumours he'll be breaking into the French squad sooner rather than later, so now would be the time to move for him.

I think Big Sam will change his tactics regularly, I think he already does.

He's a very different manager to the one that served up unadulterated dross at Newcastle, he was looking to adapt and wasn't given time. I'm not saying we shouldn't have got rid of him but the idea of him play "a style" is erroneous, he's a solid modern manager who can and does adapt to survive.

Like SA says "Chelsea hit a fifty yard ball it is a sublime pass, when my teams do it then it is boring long ball". Think back to the 90s when ManU long balled, Beckham diagonally to Giggs and there you have it. Won games so wasn't dross.

Beckham to Giggs, is a bit different to Kaboul hoofing it up to Defoe.

I think I get what you are wanting to get across but there's better anologies than that, surely?

Probably but it's still a ****tonne better than O'Shea hoofing it forwards to Altidore.

Jesus <yikes> We've had it hard at times, bless us.

I don't really think Allardyce has a point on this one though... You don't see the Chelsea centre halfs constantly hoofing it up to the striker. If they go long ball, then it's generally down the channels with somebody running onto it, or into feet. They don't just float it up to the strikers head when he's got nee ****er making runs in behind him. (Like we do)

There's playing 50 yard balls to quickly turn defence into attack, or to switch play to allow the game to open up. Then there's just playing a long ball up to your strikers head. Totally different.

Same difference, just different personalities so that makes it OK. Neither move engineered by slick football just a man running into space so delivery into the area is what is needed.

Andy Carroll is a first class tit who is also extremely injury prone..Why the hell would we want to sign someone like that?

Does anyone think young Watmore might be a step in the right direction to take over from Defoe?
Learning his trade from Defoe can only be a good thing and another year being his understudy will bring him along massively.
Certainly a canny prospect and hoping he fulfils his potential. Be nice to have a target man if that is the way Sam is going to go but i think he might stick with the forwards we have and build a better midfield and defence.
