For the new season. Or keep the same?

    Pretty simple really.

Can you see a big forward coming in and changing the shape of the team?

I think we'll continue with the same formation and tactics. He tried the 3-5-2 and although it wasn't exactly a disaster, I don't think he'll go back to it.

I also think he'll keep Defoe for this season as our main striker, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him bring somebody in with considerable size and strength to play a supporting role and offer us something different. Also with the view to taking over from Defoe, the season after.

We'll bring in an attacking midfielder which will allow us to press forward more, and that will definitely give us more of a threat going forward. I believe that's what he wants us to do now but we just haven't got the player to be able to do that. So still the same tactics, just applied better.

An attack of Defoe and Andy Carroll would be amazing

It never works out well when we sign Newcastle fans. They don't end up being much good for one thing.

I don`t think he`ll change much nor do I think he needs to tbh.

4 additions as upgrades to strengthen and add some variation and that would be it.

Little steps. We`ve had enough of wholesale changes.

Yeah he'd give it his best shot no doubt, I just don't like the thought of it.

If we were talking about Aguero then I'd get over it but it's not it's Carroll and I don't rate him. I have no doubt there are far better footballers for less money.

But compairing Carroll to Aguero is like compairing slippers to doc martin boots.

I know there are plenty on here who don't rate Carroll but I think he'd be a good signing. If we did sign him I don't think we'd see him with Defoe very often. I think SA is pretty wedded to his 4141/433 system so it'll usually be one or the other.
As for him being a Newcastle supporter I don't think it matters that much. Lee Clark did ok for us until the t-shirt incident. And I'm still not convinced about that Chopra miss- I think he was just crap and made something up to make himself look 'big'

We should worry about signing a toon fan when they are a threat,

With any luck that won't be for some time.

Yeah because Carroll isn't very good.

Who our players support privately isn't a big deal at all but if it can be avoided then I'd prefer that. Especially if they're the 'Mr Newcastle' type.

Here's your ticket. It's 729. The back of the queue is across the road and around the corner.

As for Carroll, I don't give a monkeys about him being a Geordie!

I just think we can do better.

The lad's got dodgy heels and would spend half the season on the physio's bench! And that would mean having to get 2 with Rodders hogging the other one!
