Re. Vardy 'diving'. I don't think it's diving (yesterday wasn't close to being a dive, the West Ham one was closer). Is it moral for him to do that? Probably not. Should he do it? If it wins him penalties then why not? He shouldn't be penalised for exploiting poor defending IMO. He gets goal side and waits for defenders to charge through the back of him.
Isnt it funny how people always seem to have this attitude when it's one of their players but if any such decision goes against them...
Sadly Hoddle's stupid decision was off the pitch. There will probably never be a better England side in my lifetime.
I think if we had a commanding centre half, this England side certainly has the potential. Unfortunately when we are strong in certain areas of the pitch we seem to have other areas of great weakness. This young side certainly has real potential - question marks remain over the manager though for me. I'd love Eddie Howe to be the next England manager - I think he's got everything about him to be successful.
Its not the same level though. Then we had 2 genuinely world class players in Cole and Scholes, whereas now we havent got anyone anywhere near the top of the game in their position. At le Tournoi we looked one of the best teams in the world. Edit - just checked and Ashley didnt play then. I of course mean Andrew
Having world class players can sometimes work against you with the weight of expectation. I think Delli Alli is going to go on to be top top player. Here's their chance to play without fear and showcase the undoubted talents they have. I think we'll surprise people.
For several years, people have been calling for England friendlies to be played away from Wembley. On Saturday it happened, but only 44k turned out to watch, the lowest attendance for an England game since the new Wembley opened. Likely that the calls will now end, as the average at Wembley is 75k?
There is a strange apathy among the blue half of Mancs at the minute. I realise its not only them that should be attending here but wind back 10 years and they'd have packed the place out.
He wasnt even at the game anyway. I think I mixed up the 23 man squad for the Copa America and the squad for the friendly on Sunday.
Isn't Copa america the South American cup? Doesn't that get played the year after the World Cup normally?
Nature of the beast. But I think every football fan will be clear when it's obvious. Vardy's new found way of winning penalties needs to be cleared up. It either is or isn't a dive and someone needs to come out and say it.
Much too young for that. Given England's achievements pre and post '66. I'm not sure any England team can be described as 'Great'. History also doesn't win you trophies in the here and now. I'd also add that modern football is very different to football back then, both in terms of rules (it's almost a non contact sport now) and player athleticism.
