If you put 2k fans with 8k fans with no cordon then you are culpable. Under any circumstances, not just football, the only people to be punished for a crime or misdemeanour are those directly involved in promoting it or carrying it out. If you were at a game and those around you were tearing up seats and lobbing stuff around would that mean you were equally culpable? No more than if you were in a shop and someone next to you was stuffing things in their pockets. Making people guilty through association or proximity is absurd and extreme. A club can sometimes be punished for failing to take adequate measures to control its fans, but that doesn't mean the players should be denied their achievements.

When it's proven after statements from the players and they can come up with the evidence that's fair do's. Perhaps it was filmed by a press photographer or telly camera man, I dunno.

The only way to stop it in my view is make the punishment make those who stand by stop standing by. Remember it might be only 20 west ham idiots max who threw stuff at the manc bus but thousands stood by and cheered or covered for them. same here. 1000s of hibs fans invaded the pitch when every one of them knew form every game they were ever at that they are not allowed to, this then covered and allowed for idiots to physically attack players and from what it sounds like the ref had to protect one player. the reality check is there was enough in the pitch invasion on its own to have a charge on hibs. add in assaults and I can see some guys getting time for their actions as they were clearly visible
