    I was devastated when we sacked Atkinson. I really thought he would come good. I may have been wrong but I'll be honest, some of my best memories of watching United was during his time as manager.

    He kept Utd there or thereabouts and played decent footy during his reign at OT, but since Fergie came good and had all the success another Atkinson type of manager wouldn't last long, success on a higher scale is now demanded by the manc hordes(mainly plastics with no knowledge of Utd pre Fergie).

    they were an entertaining team to watch though i still have bad memories about the in off goal in the 77 cup final :headbang: - that was when the FA Cup was the biggest game of the year in this country
    but not that year if you were a pool fan <party>

    77 was about 5 years before my time mate. Was that the possible treble? :bandit:

    EDIT: agree fully, there was a real swagger about United under big Ron. Anything could happen and usually did, but it was always entertaining.

    I see what you're doing there.

    Not sure their fans expect a trophy at least every three seasons.

    Arsenal probably a better shout, although I haven't checked the trophy stats!
