Bit of a bold statement that trebs, i get what winning the league is all about, I witnessed LFC winning it many times, unless you've got an FA coaching badge you know as much as the next feller about winning it.

And its more a case of you hoping that Maureen changes his habits at OT and keeps faith in youth and stays longer than the usual 3-4 years.

I may be in a minority but I don't and have never rated mourinho. To me he is just a good manager who has been lucky enough to go where he has been backed with funds. You lot are happy with him good for you. And yes if he was our manager I would not have been happy don't like his style or character.

Based on the post Fergie period, United have spent £316.8m gross and £199.05m net. Liverpool have spent £248.4m gross and £86.68m net.

United have won an FA Cup. Liverpool have won the square root of **** all.

 

That's the crux of it, Fergie was from a different era, since he went they've reverted back to a Ron Atkinsonesque era of a sometimes FA Cup winning club.

 

sod me didn't realise a FA cup cost that much .

Well you've spent over £600m gross and over £200m net since your last FA Cup (best we ignore the spend since your last league title) so I'm surprised you're surprised!

i think you are missing the point about how since Fergie you have been splashing money around to little effect.

 

Non United fans are far more preoccupied than me and the United fans I know about us not challenging for honours every season.

 

I'm not saying I know more, ofcourse not. But being better than Pep or Klopp is not going to come down to "head to heads" as Lucas suggested. How many times did Fergie get the better of Mourinho head to head? Very little, but that had little to do with Fergie's success or failures while Mourinho was there. The league is more than that.

I have seen him during his time at Real Madrid to know that he adapts to the nature and ethos of the club he manages. His first priority will always be to build/consolidate a strong defence. That can be an ugly process under Mourinho BUT once he gets that sorted, he is more than capable of looking at an expansive attack as he demonstrated at RM.

The only other thing I'd add is that he appears desperate for the United job. He seems to want us more than we want him, and that means he will want to prove he fits the style of our club. I think it will take time but I'm happy to give it to him as long as I can see an improvement.

 

But better effect than Liverpool. As I said, non United fans are more preoccupied about our spend and return than that of their own clubs.

It's like they use our lack of return on investment as an excuse for the failings of their own clubs.

 

Fair enough. But while we heard this about Ronaldo when he was at our club, that opinion soon changed when you got Suarez at Liverpool. What did Gerrez say, he may be a **** but he's our ****. Likewise, I agree, I dont think you would like Mourinho, but if you got someone exactly the same but without his history with your rivals, you would back him all the way if he brought you that success. That's just the way we all are.

 

So since Fergie left we went 2 seasons without a trophy and have reverted back to a Atkinsonesque era

What era have Liverpool been in for the last 10 years?

 

Don't bother me what you have spent and as pointed out on our PL watch thread the disparity in profits means you can easily afford to outspend us but actually it is ManU fans who normally bring up the subject of spending purely as we haven't been as successful as you since Fergie hit his stride.
anyway this is now just getting repetitive so night

 

"appears" being the key word, it could be the opposite tbf, the club is desperate to regain its place at Europe's top table on a regular basis and to appease their fans demand for league success(ain't saying you or the others on this site fall into that category btw), as far as it "appears" Utd have been chasing him as vice-versa.

Only time will tell if all the chasing by whoever of the two was worth it.
