"We're both quite clever, we both know the game, so on that side of it and linking up I think it's going to be easy," said Earnshaw.

"Hopefully it's also going to be exciting because we've both got good movement and we're both obviously going to try and score goals.

Not cocky at all eh?

Must admit I cringed a bit when I read that from Earnie in that Beeb article. <doh>

Just hope he's right. It didn't work at Derby but I admire his confidence this time around.

Just get us 40 goals between you two arch "lurkers" and then another 20 from Whitts "the ghost" playing in the hole behind them will see us up there.

Bellamy's 20 will be the icing on the cake.......<whistle><whistle>

You'd prefer the guy be timid and say that as a striker he's worrying about performing in his job role?

    Really?

Probably better in hindsight to say nothing along those lines to the press, and do your talking on the pitch.

It's not a question of being "timid" nor "cocky".

There's nothing wrong in being confident, but there's a big difference between just scratching your arse or actually tearing flesh. If you're subtle enough, no one notices - on the other hand, if you make it obvious, you attract attention.

When the ball is in the back of the net, it's too late to argue. <ok>

I understand the point that you're putting across, but Earnshaw has a proven track record in the league, and has done fine for Forest over the past few seasons. I'm pretty sure no-one will remember this interview in the next few months anyhow. We'll either be worried about leaking goals, or gloating to the jacks about how we're winning games and they're not!

I don't read it as being cocky. First paragraph highlighting they have played together previously and believes they'll gel easily when partnered on the pitch.
Second paragraph says there will hopefully be exciting times ahead and they are are going to try and score the goals.
Quite a level headed and grounded statement from Earnie in my opinion.

I fear at 22, I may be lacking in supporting years to remember, either that or due to being too young to comprehend.. Correct me if i'm wrong!

It was John White at Spurs. <ok>

Brilliant inside left who could pick a pass out of nothing. Very quiet and sometimes unnoticed by the opposition - hence the nickname.

I think he was struck by lightning whilst playing golf - but I might be wrong. Sad loss to those who enjoyed pure football.
