He turned up from where I was watching Btw the theory that winning the FA Cup would mean another year of Van Gaal may be a little flawed...
I'm sure you followed our thread long enough to know that I went out just after Clatterburg brought back the play after Palace's wholly legitimate goal, and didn't get back till second half of extra time. I'm told it was a fair game by people in work today, but as I was on at 05.30 this morning I went to bed immediately after the final whistle went. But well done. Had you played that well in March we may have found it harder to hose you in the Europa.
It would be far too painful to read back over all of this. For what it's worth, I think if we'd gone in at half time 2 - 0 up, it would have been a different outcome. That was a nailed-on penalty. It doesn't excuse the complete lack of passion after conceding the quick equaliser. I blame the players first and foremost, but Klopp would have been better exhorting them to get a grip and not the supporters. Apparently, that didn't go down at all well in some quarters.
I've avoided the forum since the final, I was so down about it that I just didn't want to think about footy at all. Now that I've chilled a bit and reflected on it I can post with a calmer head. I can say that it was the worst performance I've ever seen from a Liverpool team in a cup final. I feel let down by the players because there was very little effort or fight from them, if they had given their all and lost I can accept that but I don't think there were many who could hold their head up and say I left it all on the pitch. The manager also got it wrong but I don't feel he needs a kicking for it just yet he's only been with us a short time and is still learning about the players, he did get it wrong though we were done in midfield and it needed changing so that we could get hold of the game. Lucas in the holding position to break up play Can further forward and Allen in and we would have had a chance of getting to grips with the game. I don't want to start pointing fingers at individuals as there were not many who are exempt from blame but I do hope that Klopp is harsh this Summer and does rip that squad to bits, I'm usually the opposite to that opinion and just want quality other than quantity but enough is enough and players who are there to pick up a wage need to go, we have a huge squad and many need to go. I'm happy with Klopp in charge he's lifted me as a fan and his enthusiasm for the game is brilliant, long may he be our manager we'll have happy times again with him in charge I'm sure.
This. It wasn't rocket science. I accept that we were caught cold by their start to the second half, but to simply do nothing and hope for the best was utterly bizarre. And the Moreno/Coutinho combination on the left flank was not something that should have come as a surprise either.
And it's not about favs with me putting Lucas in, it was just needed. Someone to kick the ****ers and stop the momentum they were building and it would have given Can and Allen the feedom to play and get a hold of the game, Lallana and Milner were chasing shadows and there was no link from midfield to the forwards, again that change would have given us the link between the lines.
erm.... 2007? that was pretty rank. 2011 captial one cup final? I agree that is was an awful half and over the 90mins the players i'd identified prior to the game as bottlers did in fact bottle it totally. I don't think its effort i think its running about mindlessly after leeting fear block your brain and not ebing i nthe right place so you chase shadows. They did give their "all" just badly.. no calm minds and no bravery about it. Clyne and toure were about it.. mingolet bottled it for sure. he was glued to his line Lovern was trying to jump through own men Morneo thought it was won at HT Lallana never turned up Can thought it was won milner was **** Coutinho completely bottled it Firmino bottled it too sturridge tried his best i think. I saw him everywhere but where he was really needed though. I agree with you. klopp needs to deal with the bottle and the tehcnical inability and rip the **** out of the squad. With potentially only 40 games next year (in a poor year obviously) he doesn't need that many players so can cull quite a bit.
I agree... Had in hindsight klopp simply stuck lucas on at HT for any one of the useless 3 behind sturridge and shifted milner to wing then who knows... however i do think lallana and coutinho bottled it and can and moreno stopped playing i doubt they heard a word at HT. I think they were in celebration mode.
Sometimes it just doesn't go your way but as long as there's effort I can bat that off. In the Europa final there was little effort from many of our players and that's what I cannot forgive.
well... I think there was a mix of pure fear and cowardice. Klopp had a real go after 10 mins at lallana who never got in his position and helped clyne at all. I do think our away europa form came home to haunt us but i'd hopes sevilla's away form would be worse. I think the issues there do need your solution. You need clear minds and eagernees to take the opportunity not hiders. In my book countiho's gone way down in my estimation.
Gone down in my estimation as a left-half. Hard to judge him as a no 10 as he never seems to play there any more.
When it wasn't going our way the only forward who went looking for the ball was Studge and he's supposed to be lazy, Coutinho and Firmino stayed up top and there was a huge gap between midfield and forwards and that then goes on the shoulders of Klopp again for not seeing and reacting to that, his changes made no diffrence as we couldnt get the ball to the forwards as the midfield was getting murdered. No excuse for those forwards to stand around idle though.
