When Tettey has the ball his first instinct is to stop play and pass it backwards or side ways. Passing it backwards generally gives it to the two centre backs who correct me if I'm wrong are defenders, not attacking midfielders, they then lump it forward, surely Tettey could do that!!!!!

His toe punt at old Trafford puts him in the Legendary category 2015 -16 and he has a good engine but I won't lose any sleep if he thinks he's too good for us and leaves .

I'd far sooner he was confined to the bench. A captain who has gifted the opposition goals - no thanks!!!! <doh>

I think offer Klose Captaincy right now. Anything we can to make him stay, plus he has Captain written all over his performance, his personality off the field, His interviews. I can't see him staying, but will be so happy if he decides to give us at least til January.

An article in yesterday’s Evening News as to which players Canaries fans would like to keep and which they would move on – even if only to remove them from the wage bill. I won’t go into detail, but these are top 10 who fans would like to see stay and no real surprises –
Klose, Howson, Brady, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Olsson, Bennett, Pinto, Rudd, Tettey

Even fewer surprises who fans would like to see leave, but only 5 this time –
    Turner, Bassong, Whittaker, Mulumbu, RvW

Only just over half want Martin to stay, so I’m hoping that AN or someone on the coaching staff has read the article and even if Martin stays, PLEASE don’t make him captain or give him a regular starting place.
Even more interesting is the starting 11-
Bentley (Southend United), Pinto, Dunk (Brighton), Klose, Olsson, Pritchard (Spurs), Howson, Johnson (Derby??), Brady, Hoolahan, McCormack (Fulham)

I’d sooner have Maddison just behind McCormack, but it’s going to be a challenging season ahead and whoever is manager, I’m just hoping that we see a more settled starting 11 – barring injuries/suspensions!!!!! Also, I'd like to hope that one or two out of the Murphys, Toffolo and Morris do enough in pre season to at least be on the bench regularly!! <ok>

I hope that the club offer a significant bonus payment to the players for achieving promotion. The riches on offer are so huge it would make little sense not to give them an enormous incentive for success. Plus a cull of the two time failures who once again failed to impress in the PL. Martin must not be allowed anywhere near the captains armband under any circumstances, and preferably only on the bench at best.

Agree with this but, wasn't the incentive last season enough? This is what bothers me about the manager, he couldn't motivate a squad of players to get the club a massive payday, I'm really bothered that he won't get us back up!

I know if I was in a well paid job and if by putting in a bit more effort - ie training harder, chasing a 50-50 ball etc I could keep my present salary and conversely if I didn't, then I'd have to endure even a modest cut in salary; I wouldn't need a manager to motivate me!!!!

Sorry ILD, but it Looks like according to the Evening News etc that the majority of fans want AN to stay on the proviso that we're no worse than top 10 by December -- they don't want a BIG Sam etc. I'm marginally in favour of AN staying, but would like to see Nigel Pearson at CR!!!

Edit - I'm sure I saw a rumour somewhere that both Blackburn and Forest want Colin (Neil Warnock aka Colin ****er) as their manager, but can't find it now.
PS - Archie have just published the article I mentioned in a previous post - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic..._starting_xi_for_the_2016_17_season_1_4544801

Yes BH I know I'm on the minority, but I can't see what the majority see/saw as anywhere near anything positive from Alex Neil last season. Players in, team selection, tactics, substitutions too late and no plan "B". Not my idea of a successful manager or one who's learned anything.

Can't argue with that ILD - it seems to be the majority (approx 65%) would prefer him to be given a chance rather than opt for someone 'with more than a few miles on the clock!!'

I thought Martin played OK in the second half of the season. Not spectacular, but ok. Bassong was the disaster.

In the same way Mckenzie scored against Man U .
I doubt we will get another win there for a few years.

Apparently as well as Gary O'Neil, the club are in talks with Whittaker about a new contract as he's proven championship player.

Dare I say it, I think this says a lot about our approach to defensive recruitment this summer, and none of it good. Without Whittaker we'd have had Martin and Pinto as RB options, which should be plenty. Pinto doesn't seem to want a move away, and Martin wants to be captain again, so surely that suggests Martin is to be considered as a CB starter, however woefully inadequate that may be? I know Wisdom is departing, but if Martin was to be seen predominantly as a RB, we'd have absolutely no need for Whittaker.

Neil was also so certain that Whittaker couldn't cut it in the Prem he was loaned out and his contract allowed to run down during the season. Even if he does help us win promotion again then he's certainly not going to be good enough for the Prem in a seasons time.

I saw this but didn't post it because it was from HITC. If it appears from a more reliable source, then I'll worry!

For me I would say hat Whittaker played in the right system has his uses.

As the season moved on we got more and more and defensive and our attacking impetus diminished to the point where we were so bad going forward.

That coupled with our **** defence sent us down.

In the Championship you need to attack as you have to win. Whittaker may well get more game time.

I'm disappointed we didn't have a real go this season. Would rather have gone down all guns blazing instead of like we did. Leaving quietly through the back door whilst apologising for how bad we are.

Vital Football are no better but they have the story too, quoting comments Neil made to the EDP, so presumably it made the print edition of the EDP somewhere.

Whittaker can definitely do a job in the championship game championship, I'm not disagreeing with that, but in terms of planning for the future and the rest of our transfer policy, I find keeping him quite worrying.
