Does it matter? From the SMC's point of view, it now has a tenant that actually makes the arenas very existence justified, rather than I giant drain to keep pissing money down. Who else was going to pay the rent? Why didn't the council take it back if it was such a wonderful facility for any man and his dog to rent to use for grannys garage and cupcake sale? Because it was a big money burner and they know it. That's why.
The Allams won't budge regardless, this ****ty scheme is here next season full stop. Even if a new owner came in the clocks ticking for opportunity to change it. Unless there are real breaches of rules such as what you mention nothing will change whether we're in the premier league or the hull and Humber division.
If we are in the Premier League the concessions will need to be in place. If a new owner came in they could easily offer season tickets with credit for what has been paid for the membership scheme and allow season tickets to be paid in instalments.
I would expect most clubs have people who know all the footballing and non-footballing rules that they have to comply with. The Allams don't seem to bother with that level of detail. They don't seem to know the name of the SMC https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/04179402 http://www.kcstadium.co.uk/contact I've phoned them several times and nobody has the slightest interest or understanding.
I totally disagree with your stand on the Airco Arena. But does Allam telling people to die when they want bother me !!! Not a chance.!!!! I got far worse abuse on the building site. Its our club, our City and id be ****ed if a could choke on my principles and stop going to Wembley a place that lots if City fans in the 70s and 80s thought would never happen. Theres plenty of people who've passed away and never got a chance. Get a Grip !! Get a Ticket !! And bloody well cherish these moments. These are not Dark days . these are great days.
Do you have a link or reference to where it says 'must'? When I've looked it says 'should' have concessions, but in associated documents, talks of situations where concessions are not in place. The example I was looking at was for disabled fans and the disability rules. It says charging 'must' not be greater for away fans,, be they concession or otherwise. EDIT Found it. In one section of the Premier league handbook it says 'should' but R6 says clubs 'must' provide a family area, and R7 says concessions 'must' be available for juniors and senior citizens. Promotion to the Prem is not guaranteed from winning the play offs, it still needs acceptance from the Prem. Could be interesting.
It could be argued that the different zones are a form of concessionary pricing for young people and OAPs.
Aye. It'd take some teasing out. I guess it depends if the league wants to argue if it's in the spirit of their organisation, or argue the wording.
I went to the Hull and East Riding Disability Sports Awards last night. There's one guy who organises it by himself. He founded the organisation three years ago to give other disabled people a chance of playing sport which can be incredibly expensive. He raises money through these annual awards and other schemes but doesn't take a penny out himself. He's disabled, suffering from multiple conditions and apparently in constant pain. This year he lost both of his parents at the age of 26 and now cares for his younger siblings as well. Like with any charity, getting funding is difficult and apparently every club in Hull requests funding from his organisation and he obviously can't meet that demand. Powerchairs cost thousands I'm told. Some of the kids who won awards last night were in tears of joy. It obviously made a huge difference to these people to have that moment recognising their efforts in sport and the event also raised several thousand pounds of funds to go to disabled clubs and athletes. The guy who runs it was made up; on the verge of tears as he talked about the effect this has on others as well as himself. Loads of local businesses were there to support it. Apparently City used to come and support it but not this year. Last year they didn't pay for their table until long after the event and after every other sponsor had paid up and only when chased up on it did they pay at all. It was £450. This was a Premier League football club at the time. I talked to the guy about the Airco situation and he talked about how upsetting it was and how much more difficult it made it to make the funding go as far as possible with a load of clubs suddenly needing new venues on top of all the other costs. Let's not forget, it wasn't even necessary. The council bent over backwards to provide alternative options which would have been beneficial to everyone. They did that to resolve a situation of the Allams' making. Ehab was typically arrogant and started making ridiculous demands of the council which wouldn't even have been legal. This is documented in the letters between Ehab and the Council which are publicly available. Even if the council hadn't made those offers, the club would have still been completely wrong in taking over that venue. It's not theirs. It's for the people of the City of Hull, not Hull City Tigers Ltd.
Spot on. People should try to spend time with people with disabilities, just to see what they have to overcome just to get by day to day. Many of them put me to shame with how resourceful, independent and determined they are.
What's the definition of junior and senior? In some places senior is 60+ others it's 65+, junior's I'm not too sure. What's the betting City will try and define junior as under 3, senior as 90+...
The rule doesn't say all OAPs or young people must be offered concessions. Zone 1 is available for former concessions. Does offering cheap tickets in Zone 1 where juniors and OAPs have priority mean the club have offered concessions under the rules given we have some discretion over the type of scheme? If we get promoted the most we can charge away supporters is £30 and that only for E3 which is zone 3. The other areas would have to be less.
If kids and OAPs are being charged the same as adults, then they're not getting concessions and nobody could reasonably argue they were.
They probably will, after all, they did claim Hull Tigers was shorter than Hull City and millions of Chinese people were ****ing stupid. It would be dismissed even more quickly on this occasion, the FA may be wishy-washy with their rules, but the Premier League certainly aren't.
