Had a great show last night, and two more today. Really chuffed actually because the music journalist (of some repute) Simon Price came along and just posted this - OK, Great Escape people (and just Brighton people in general, because this is part of the Alternative Escape and therefore FREE, no wristband needed), having your breakfast and wondering what to watch later. I really, really recommend that you try to catch FABLE at one of her/their two gigs today, Marwood cafe at 4.15pm or Hotel Pelirocco at 10.00pm. I saw her yesterday and she's come on so far in the space of a year. Still really young (only just turned 21), but such a compelling, confident and commanding performer now. She's never not doing something: there's never a moment when there's nothing to look at. The music's intense electro-rock noir, and yes I will use the 'g' word (gothic) because there's inevitably an element of "junior Siouxsie Sioux" to what she does. (I've also previously called her "a Lorde from the dark side"). And there's a great tribute to the recently-dead in the live set, shall we say. She's not gonna be for everyone, but the people she's for, she'll REALLY be for, if that makes sense. (One of *those* acts.) Unsigned at the moment, but totally feels like an artist who is fully-formed and ready to happen. Just needs to get in front of a few of the right pairs of eyes and ears, and today could be the day for that. Message over.
A few years ago our exhaust just started blowing a little. I called our garage and they said they could do it in a couple of days. The wife took it out in the interim despite the racket. She stopped at a junction and the guy behind didn't. In stoving in the back of the car he broke the exhaust off. Which was nice. What I'm saying is, go out and do loads of unexpected emergency stops. I don't want to get into a debate about this, but my thoughts on the matter: Think about the history of black people in America, and how they were forced into slavery which is one of the main reasons the USA was able to accumulate the enourmous wealth that has lead to it being the country it is today. It's a month to remember what what they have suffered as a race to get to what they are today. I think it's an important thing for all races to acknowledge, I don't see why people get offended by it. With regard to the black lives matter issue, in the USA there is a huge stereotype towards black people and it has lead to some very controversial shooting incidents with the police, who are not always indicted for these cases. The likelihood of the police pulling you over 'randomly' increases massively if you are a black male, especially aged 17-34 and a lot of black people live in fear of the police these days. If you look at the news coverage in America for a murder story involving a black suspect, and compare it to one of a white suspect (ie - Dylann Roof) then the whole tone of the article is different. It's like they expect black people to be murders and it's no real shock, but in the Dylann Roof and other cases involving white people then they tend to blame it on mental health issues. Basically, black people are still treated very differently in America compared to white people - there are politicians and police over there that are members of the KKK and other white supremacist movements.

I'm pretty sure that in some states in America you can get the equivalent of a provisional licence at 15. Maybe even 14.
