Was responding on another thread and thought this might be worth discussing. Along with many others I've been a little concerned over our new signing. Mainly on the grounds of a questionable temperament. By contrast, I was chuffed to bits in getting Danny Graham. But compare the stats. Lita: Career appearances = 288; goals = 100 Graham: Career appearances - 262; goals = 86 So it looks as if on paper we should be equally or possibly even more pleased at getting Lita than Graham. If that's the case, should we be that bothered about a bad boy reputation?
I think that this is his last chance at making the grade in the prem and will come out all guns blazing, i work with a couple of boro fans and they rate him good goalscorer, optimistic
Cardiff fan... You are in the premiership does it matter that much? Both players can score and you play good football why not settle back and enjoy your season. Think, all you have to do is avoid relegation compare that to winning the plays offs like last season.
JCK spot on, less games, better footballing pitches which will suit our style and everyone reckoning (outside Swansea) that we will get tonked all over england, no pressure at all and the chance to show that we arent the league whooping boys. easy innit!! bring it on cannot wait
I'm quietly hopeful about this one. A lot has been said about his temperament, but for me, unless it's a Joey Barton-esque character, then I'm up for giving anyone a chance, as long as it doesn't endanger our financial position doing so. I always rated him from what I've seen, and I'm excited about seeing him in a Swans shirt.
Those stats are deceiving, Hit the Road! It all depends on when the players mature and come into their best form, and what's been going on, with injuries, attitude etc, as in Graham's case he's only come into form in 2007 with 180 appearances 67 goals, while Lita made 168 appearances for Bristol and Reading between 2002 to 2009 and scored 51 goals in that period, though he has come back with some good form for Boro with 78 appearances and 20 goals last season, Lita started well, then just faded due to his attitude, and has come back with some reasonable stats last season for Boro, while Graham has been steadily progressing to where he has know matured nicely, for me Graham is the more dependable horse to put your money on, in getting the goals, you will take a bigger risk with your money expecting a similar return from Lita. With regard to the response of the Jack supporters, are they wrong? I don't think so, they are clearly responding to two different animals here, one that would naturally bring enthusiasm in the signing, while the other not so, due to the baggage of issues that have gone before, which cannot be ignored, so it will be interesting to see what transpires, my money is on Graham, though I don't doubt Lita's ability around the goal mouth, I just doubt his attitude and commitment, by the way I would think that this would be his last chance in the Prem, so maybe Rodgers can help him to dedicate his time and energy to the cause at hand, we shall see!.......... please log in to view this image
Does a Lita signing mean a more rigid 4-4-2 ? If not, then do we shift Beattie, Moore or Pintado (worth £7 million!). We also have Siclair and Dobbie who can do a job up front. I thought cover for the widemen was far more of a priority, so I was hoping Marvin would have joined not Lita - but it's seems Buck has got one he wanted so we shall wait and see.
Leroy has done it got the t-shirt in the premiership. graham dont have any experience in the premiership and might do a Scotland, so Leroy has to be the no1 striker, graham has not set the world alight in the pre-season games so far so i hope he starts scoring soon or he may be another jase the ace.....hope not...........
I do not think you will give away three points cheaply and I`m looking forward to watching your games on MOTD. As fas as I am concerned there are big changes at Cardiff and we have to try again.
seems a strange signing for the man who plays 4-5-1 unless getting beat and then throws 3 forwards in - no confidence in Beattie and Moore (if so, sell them to Hartlepool)
I'll put my hands up and admit that I wasn't overwhelmed by the Lita news at first. I got a bit negative thinking about his "bad boy" image and all that, but I genuinely believe that if Leroy Lita comes without any other baggage then he'll do just fine! If all of that other stuff is left at the door on the way in, and Lita does his talking on the green i'll be very happy. 1st choice striker... Who knows! I don't think Beattie will get a good look in, even though he has had his scoring boots on lately. I'd imagine it's going to be Lita and Graham fighting it out, but I think Graham will get that 1st nod as he's been about a bit longer.
Don't worry about Danny Graham, he'll score lots for us. He was unlucky against Baku twice hitting the bar, so he's obviously getting in the right positions. Reckon he'll start to come good as he develops his understanding with his team mates. Lita has been bought to up the competition for a starting place and to give us options as well as greater depth up front.
