    Would he be ??
For as long as Spurs are in UEFA + domestic cup competitions, Pochettino would no doubt be looking
to try and rotate CBs. Which would effectively mean a game per week against decent opposition.

Sounds similar to the situation Bale was in at Spurs for a while.
How did we resolve that (surgery etc) , as I do not believe Bale is playing to this day
with the problem + perpetual pain-killer jabs.

There's no need to rotate both CB's that regularly. Modern footballers are more than capable of playing 40-45 games a season. Our players have exceeded that on several occasions over the last few seasons. That said, you're looking at a further 10-15 fixtures spread across a season where resting a player might be an option. I say might because Toby is frankly a machine who easily has 50 games in him, as we've seen this year. I'd imagine Poch will sit down and select 2 or 3 games a month and rest one of Toby or Jan, bringing in Kev as a replacement as he is tried and trusted. The 3rd choice CB would therefore only pick up around 12 starts across an entire season - the 4th choice would only be called upon in extenuating circumstances. The only variable I can think of is that Poch might be fixed on like-for-like rotation, which means that Kev isn't seen as an understudy for Toby because he's left footed.

    As per Harry Redknapp:

"i told Bale to stop lying around looking sorry for himself."

    Easy really.

We've been linked with a young Leeds United goalkeeper today.
He's supposedly highly rated and has turned down a new contract, presumably because he wants to go to a club that's not run by a nutter.
His name's Bailey Peacock-Farrell, though. <doh> Can we change it if we sign him, please?

Anyone know if he's any good? Hasn't played much, but he's only 19.

We're also linked to Charlton goalkeeper Nick Pope.

I give it a couple of days before the papers talk of a double deal for Pope and Ademola Lookman...

Andre Yedlin interview on Sunderland's website:

“My time at Sunderland has been unbelievable, it’s my first run at Premier League soccer so I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity.Everybody at the club welcomed me in with open arms and the fans were amazing throughout the season, so I couldn’t have asked for a better club to start my time in England.”

“I feel blessed to have had the chance to play for Sunderland. The staff have treated me brilliantly and the players have a very tight-knit locker room, so it’s been an amazing experience from start to finish.”

Well, that doesn't sound like he's staying there. Personally, I think we might very well keep him with another season out on loan possible. He's really improved in the Big Sam era, from what I saw of him and he's from the USA. With our Gridiron connection and the potential market, we must want someone from the States to attract support to proper football? Maybe he can be that player?

Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Ante Coric has been linked with a £10m move. Given the list of clubs he's been linked with in the past few months (not least Los Ladrones, the Chavs and City) and the fact he's spoken of in the same breath as Modric and Kovacic, that fee sounds like an absolute steal - which immediately makes me wonder if Dinamo are expecting a transfer auction to begin.

"Ante is a treasure for our club. He is a greater talent than Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić were at his age."
    Zoran Mamić, Dinamo Zagreb coach

"He is still just a kid and he is attracting so much acclaim from the stands. He is better than Zvonimir Boban or Robert Prosinečki were at the same stage. I am impressed."
    Zdravko Mamić, Dinamo Zagreb president

"Ćorić is not only a prospect for Dinamo Zagreb, but for the Croatian national team too."
Romeo Jozak, Croatian Football Federation (HNS) technical director

No pressure or anything, but you'd better be bloody good, kid. Bit much, isn't it?

He's in the provisional squad for the Euros (which reminds me, I should probably update that topic...)

There's more than a whiff of joined-up journalism to this one, not least the obvious question: if Poch was already entertaining thoughts of selling him in the summer before the game there's no reason he'd have given him a starting place against Newcastle when he had Chadli and Onomah available, and similar can be said for the handful of matches beforehand.

There's plenty of reasons why people take Poch's comments about his mind being made up about a few things spelling the end for Mason, because there's a couple of seasons worth of evidence that he is lacking in various areas when he's asked to perform in the pivot (although the question remains why he's never really been deployed in the attacking trio, as that would make better use of his attacking talents while helping mask his defensive and positional shortcomings) and we lack any genuine cover for Dier and Dembele in that position, which clearly cost us in the end.

    From Skys Transfer Centre

    SPURS CLOSING ON SLIMANI

'Sporting Lisbon striker Chico Slimani is closing in on a £15million move to Tottenham, according to reports in Portugal.

Newspapers A Bola and O Jogo have both reported that Spurs are leading the chase for the 27-year-old, ahead of Arsenal and Leicester.

Slimani, who impressed for Algeria at the 2014 World Cup, netted 31 goals in 46 appearances in 2015/16.'

Regardless of where Slimani ends up, can anyone see any positive headlines from the first time he plays in front of a Chav or Spammer crowd?

Seeing how long we indulged Lamela's mediocrity it would be a travesty to sell Son so early.

Inter have said they are willing to sell Marcelo Brozovic this summer, which is handy as he's been on our radar for a couple of season. There's one thing that confuses me, though: the deal that took him from Dinamo Zagreb to Inter was an £11.25m fee for an 18-month loan with an obligation to pay a further £3.75m at the end of the loan to make the move permanent...and they're cashing in immediately? Doesn;t that sound odd?

Sticking with Serie A for a moment, Palermo playmaker Franco Vazquez has been linked over the weekend, as he is looking for a move due to Palermo's lack of European football. While he plays either as a number ten or a striker for Palermo, I can't help but wonder if the fact he's left-footed means he could be playing on the left of the attacking trio.

Over the weekend Bolton's £7m rated centre back Rob Holding, who we've been linked to in the last few weeks, was subject to a £700k bid from Arsenal. If there's any interest from the club, Levy would be going all-out to snap him up.

Lastly, well-known troll Jamie Redknapp has suggested Arsenal sign Harry Kane and Dele Alli this summer, confirming he still hasn't got over the fact we sacked his father four years ago. What a saddo.

Now that another Spurs manager has bettered Arry in CL qualification and PL placing :

the bitterness is strong with this one.

That aside, I would suggest that :

    1. ANY PL club with title aspirations try to sign Kane and Alli.

    2. Arry junior at least waited until the end of the CL group stage before trying to sell them
(then again, perhaps he has foreseen Spurs' group and them topping it) .

Yahoo! Brasil report that Jonathan Calleri's father, Guillermo, has told Sao Paulo that, once the Copa Libertadores is over, the striker will be heading to White Hart Lane having struck a verbal agreement to join Tottenham.

The report adds that Guillermo Calleri isn't sure how much Spurs are paying for Calleri, but appears to be convinced that a deal is going through for the forward to join Spurs in August.

The statement of his father, the Argentinian link and the fact that he's been rumoured to be reasonably priced for a talented 22 year old gives this a fair chance of being true.

...effing marvelous, Sao Paulo are in the Libertadores semis (after scraping past Atletico Mineiro on away goals, because of course that's what would happen) and they face Atletico Nacional in the semis - and just to be that little bit more grating Nacional have four players on Copa America duty (three for Columbia, one for Venezuela) while Sao Paulo have just the one.
