http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...ews/steven-taylor-still-hoping-extra-11358708 Delayed contract talks are planned so there is a chance he could be here next season. I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind seeing the back of him but the guy is a legend - not in a footballing sense but his blood runs black and white and he's a character to say the least. Could be decent back up in the championship and I do love him really.
Aye but his form since coming back has been atrocious. My mate reckons Rafa has said Taylor will never play again for the toon. Personally, I wouldn't be disappointed.
If this club is really turning over a new leaf, then the likes of Saylor need to go ASAP. All this Geordie Boy, Black and White in the blood stuff is sentimental crap. He is past it and quite frankly a bit of a laughing stock. The guy should know when to quit. He needs gone with our thanks for his commitment, but keeping him and Colo, for me sums up exactly what's wrong with NUFC.
What I will remember of Saylor when/if he leaves: - disgraceful faking of getting hit in chest vs Villa - getting his jaw broke by Carroll - Forest Gump - constant injuries - occasional goals - defending like he was superglued to the ground vs Southampton there's never been any consistency, he's always injured at least half the season or more, and he's always been massively overrated. In my 2005 season review DVD they have a feature on him as a star of the future, and it's been just that for the last 10 years, totally unfulfilled potential - basically a Kieron Dyer in defender form. He may be a Geordie (well a Greenwich Geordie...) and bleed black and white blah blah, but then so did John Carver, Saylor's been a waste of space for at least the last 6 years, time to get rid.
Time to cut ties with him. We need fresh blood, not to mention someone who isn't injured all the time.
My blood runs black `n` white too and I would "attempt" to run through a brick wall for the club if I thought it would help. HOWEVER, There is no ****ing way I should ever be allowed to stride onto the pitch at St James` and try to ply my trade!! If he wants to stay involved at the club, let him stick the cones out for traffic before the game, or wave the big flags as the "players" come out, or a burger van, "do ye want red sauce on that mate"? He is like your 15 year old Golden Labrador, you used to think he was great but now you notice he is slow, unfit, and keeps handling his balls. Time for a visit to Mr Vet, for a nice long sleep..
Steven Taylor needs to take up a new career - Sitting on his arse and doing **** all because he's about as useful as a chocolate fire guard these days.
The guy is not a legend - he a complete chancing ****. Good riddance if he is finally purged from the club.
2nd chance? He had that about 6 seasons ago. He must have used up all of his lives by now. Over his career he's averaged about 20 games per season which is terrible for someone who has rarely had to compete for selection. Thanks for the loyal service, but it's a no from me.
I watched him a few weeks ago at Norwich. At least twice in the first half, he headed the ball out of play under no pressure at all. I knew then he had to go. Great servant to the club, but I'm afraid you can't serve the club any more. Thanks Steve.
