Thought Lonergan was awful,never rated Lees,and Brown in his prime was great but at pomp Both gave 110 % and players that do that get forgiven a lot of faults.Legend from those days for me was Andy Hughes,only average at best,but his love of the club was massive and from a Manchester born lad
Why was it that Lees was useless for us, but has been great for the Wendies? Got told he did not have the fight for Leeds Utd! Any truth in that do you think?

Lees was good for us, Colin just decided everything was Lees' fault instead of his own which tainted him imo. Back to the original question though, Lonergan, Lees, Clayton, Howson and Ross are all much much better than what we have now. Arguments could be made for Kissa and Brown. That wasn't even a full strength team we put out at that time bearing in mind.
Think Lees was averagely crap for us,never had the good games that Bamba sometimes has,but didn't have the nightmares as bad either.Cost us lots of points though make no mistake.Wouldn't want him back.Lonergan never had very good games like Silvestri often does,and is not fit to lace his boots IMO. Ross is the only one would walk back into the team, Howson and Clayton were joe average,seen Clayton 3 or four times on tv and never thought fook now he's great at Boro,Howson scored 1 or 2 cracking goals a season and had 1 brilliant game v Carlisle in the play-offs,very average rest of the time and both played in a midfield that was often over run more often than not.If I had money to buy new players,myself wouldn't buy either to come back,there's much better in the championship.
No one was suggesting we wanted any of them back, just that they are all better or at least no worse than last seasons crop of ****e.
Clayton has been arguably the best CM in the league this season. You need to watch more championship games
Also, just to expand on that. I did just check and both McCormack and Clayton made the team of the season (as did Barry bannan, another player who played for us)

Barry bannan was on loan and the 2 games against us Clayton did very little,I don't watch him every week because I'm a Leeds fan.
Funny how Chesh never rated all the players that have left Leeds over the last 5 or so years yet they are all doing quite well Mr.Mannering the only one he does rate and says would walk back into the team seems to be finding life a little tough these days playing for a club that finished below you funny that do you know a good player when you see one Chesh you told me Morison was crap
You think McCormack has been having it rough,he's scored heaps and do tell me which team Lonergan plays for who finished above Leeds.doh. And yes Morison has always been crap,pub league hasbeen.
Brown was 96 when he left so unless the Derby & Joan club have a footy team Knobby was your best player at the time he left
