I went to watch England Ladies (I think that is what it was called then) v Belgium Ladies at The Dell circa 1978-1980 and there were 5 Saints players in the team. We won 3-0.

Went further into your link than just Rodgers. Deila leaving, primarily because Celtic totally failed in their Europa League campaign, shouldn't be a trigger to let go of the manager, whether by sacking or resigning. It says more about the state of Scottish football than it does about Celtic FC. The simple fact is, Scottish players are not upto the required standard. The SFA, SPL and SFL seem incapable of doing anything regards improving the standard, and without massive TV money the leagues aren't going to improve by bringing players in from outside, so something has to be done about Scottish football before we liken it to the Welsh or Irish leagues.

And Rangers returning to the SPL will just mean that there are 4 games a season that a few people will take notice of, outside of Scotland. It's been a long slow decline and there's no suggestion of an upturn.

The only ticket I could get for the 2003 FA Cup final in Cardiff was an FA hospitality one. I paid a fortune for it. When it came the letter explained no club colours allowed. Whilst sat there trying to make sure I made as big a dent as possible into the free booze (to make up for he cost of the ticket) I realised that a large number of the tables were 'normal' fans like me, not FA dignitaries. I popped to the toilet with my bag and came back wearing my yellow and blue Saints shirt... I sat at the table before raising my hands and starting "Oh when the saints..."

About 40 people joined in. The FA people looked bemused <laugh>

There were Arsenal fans there too and they just laughed and after the game, both sets of fans had a right old sing off back at the tables.

You mean some Arsenal fans stayed beyond the final whistle.? ;)

One abiding memory of that day was the Arsenal fans quietly [Highbury the Library] but impatiently waiting for their team to be presented with the trophy so that they could get to their trains and get back to London. While up at the other end many more Saints fans were singing their hearts out even though we'd lost. Big time club.

We stayed as long as they did. The announce said over the tannoy that he'd never seen that before. It had been 27 years; we were making the most of it :)

I have to add though that I was due to meet my host for the night in a bar in the city centre. It was called "Henry's" and I hadn't thought twice but of course it was the hub for Arsenal fans. Three of us walked in wearing Saints colours and the place went dead quiet. I walked to the bar, ordered three beers, turned and sang, "Stand up if you hate Tottenham..." The place erupted and we had a bloody good night.

Can't remember who it was, but one journalist voted the enthusiasm of Saints fans at the FA Cup as his highlight of the season. The right spirit he called it. :)

I thought Celtic were a club with European ambitions. Something must have changed there.

Really, I think Rangers are going to spoil the party big time. Its a difficult job to cock up, but if there's a way, I reckon BR will find it. And whats the 12 mths rolling contract about, who's idea was that?
