There is a report on the BBC website saying the football league are hoping to restructure for the 2019-20 season and have divisions of 20 clubs each.
There is obviously a long way to go with league clubs having to be asked their opinions but it would mean less fixtures, ending as they say the many midweek games, and allowing more clubs in the National league to play at a higher level.
I think the idea has merit and should be looked at seriously by the club's, but the proposal would not mean clubs, loose out financially even though they play less games.

I forgot to say it's 5 divisions of 20 clubs each.

Sounds OK to me..The two games a week malarkey costs a fortune for the average fan who likes to socialise before games..

Well the football league have no control over the PL so if it makes the rest of the team's getting a better deal than they do currently then why not?

I'd rather they stopped the flow of foreign players below the Championship though, lower clubs should be restricted to 5 per squad.

RAW, I'm sorry but don't know how to move the report from BBC website onto here but one of the things mentioned was there would be less longer midweek journeys, like Carlisle did last month to Plymouth on a Tuesday night, and fans would benefit from most games being Saturdays and the use of Bank Holidays, would help. I think it's worth a punt so we will have to wait and see how the progress goes.

It looks like a good idea to me although they need something like 90% of the club's to approve it.
