Pretty sure Bratfud and Wendies had games when they had more fans at BP than we did. It was when we gave Bratfud the south stand (shudder) and Wendies Kempton.

I quoted the Sunderland game because that was the biggest example., just under 22,000 there 16,000 of them from Sunderland. It was only about 3 years previously when I was one of the less than 100 City fans in a crowd of about 11,000 at Roker Park.

We didn't give Bradford the South Stand. The police put Fish in an impossible position by saying they would refuse to police the match if City didn't agree. That would have resulted in repercussions for the club.
The ****wit in charge of policing at City at the time, the latest but not the last ****wit in that position, wanted to make the South Stand the away area, using the nearby school car park for coaches. You can almost imagine 30 bemused Southend fans being escorted by a phalanx of coppers and matched onto the South Stand to stand in splendid isolation.

Yes, but down the years he has received abuse for it. There were things he, and others, at the club at the time deserved abuse for but that wasn't one of them.

 

He handed the South Stand over because it benefitted the club financially at the time. When it all kicked off Fish blamed the police and the police blamed Fish.

 

As I recall he was against it and the police gave him no option. When it comes to the policing of City matches there have been enough examples of police ****witery and ****itude to be sceptical.

 

Really cant remember if that's the case or not. We defo gave Wendies Kempton for purely financial reasons.

 

Is steak and kidney pie still a favourite over there? It's almost impossible to get kidneys over here.
