This aussie medical team needs firing off, our injuries last year were worse than ever Gerrard hasnt played since the start of March, " with a groin problem", 6 months out with agroin injury is serious mismanagement http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/steven-gerrard-update
I dispute your contention that our injuries were worse than ever. We had a record number of players at the world cup so that would've fed into susceptibility but even then, injuries were down and were out for shorter periods. Gerrard's been carrying that injury for years. It's been a problem every season. At least they've tried to get a permanent solution, though at his age it's not guaranteed to be straightforward. We scoured the earth for the best sports medicine team we could find. We got them. So where do you suggest we look next?
gonna be another long hard season. will be worse than last year though due to us wasting 75 million ------------------------ Im glad someone agrees with me , just thisnk we could of had Mata,Cazorla,Aguero for the money we paid for Adam,Hendo,Downing and Carroll.Barmy!!! Buyin the 3 I mentioned would have made us Premier League Favourites, but someone , I suspect Kenny not Comolli prefers mediocre Brits
Aguero is on 200k a week, that's £52m over 5 years. Carroll is on 80k a week, that's £20m over 5 years, and £32m less than Aguero would cost us, plus the £3m difference transfer fee makes it £35m.
You wouldn't have been favourites, your squad needs a lot more work than that, but I don't think Gerrard will be that big of a miss for you. Prior to last season Gerrard seemed to have reached the peak of his career and your side were over reliant on him, last season though he had a lot of injuries, his form suffered as a result and your side got used to not playing with him and weren't so reliant on him.
Liverpool FC this afternoon issued the following statement: Steven Gerrard today began a course of antibiotic treatment for an infection related to an ongoing groin problem. He is expected to remain in hospital for several days while the precautionary procedure is completed. The player will then return to Melwood to continue his rehabilitation programme and is expected to be available for selection in September.
What's lovely about this is that usually this would be disastrous. Would usually mean we would be mid-table quality - now, though, we're fine.
In fairness we aren't exactly short of midfield options and it didn't hurt us as badly when Gerrard was out last season as in the past, due to the vast improvement of Lucas and the inclusion of Spearing. Add to this the acquisitions of Adam and Henderson and at least now we have the time to let him rest and recover properly rather than rush him back half fit. Not great news I know but not as disastrous as it has been over previous seasons.
Spearing done a great job filling in last season, and can do again. We also now have Charlie Adam. Carragher's a great vice captain. The team will cope.
We have plenty of options in midfield now so a problem like this will not be a problem like it has been in previous years. Simply put Adam in for Gerrard, job done
funny how that eejit has not been on the thread after you pointed out one of the many flaws in his argument.
In the past we did rely on Stevie to be fit but we don't have that problem now Since March we have played without Stevie and let Lucas and Spearing do the job Now on top of that we have new players WE WILL BE OK
I'm not actually that bothered. I just hope this means Coady will get some sort of run out, but the amount of midfielders we've got I wouldn't count on it. Adam is a ready made replacement for corners (Gerrard not taking them will be a blessing) and free kicks, and I can see him settling well on the left mid. Lucas is most likely to retain his place as DM in pretty much all the matches, and I would expect Downing to start most games. So I think we'll do 1 of the 3 formations depending on who we're playing: 4-3-3 --Hendo--Lucas--Adam-- --Downing-Carroll-Suarez-- 4-2-1-37 -------Lucas--Adam--------- -------Aquilani/Meireles----- ---Downing-Carroll--Suarez-- 5-3-2 ---Johnson--Lucas--Spearing--Adam--Aurelio (?) ------------Carroll-----Suarez-----------------
I think your all UNDERESTIMATING the loss of Stevie, hes one of our only 2 world class attackin players. I think Reina and Agger ( when fit ) are world class too.
He is world-class, but our squad is all about potential. This could be a blessing in disguise, think of it hypothetically. Whilst Stevie's injured we are forced to replace him with another midfielder who isn't rated highly. That midfielder proves his worth and we unearth a new world-class player in our team. Like I said, hypothetically
