I think sturrdige blew out personally. yeah he celebrated like he won the cl but thats him... I thin kthere was nothing form the 3 no 10s at all and that meant he wasted his energy running about for nothing. he was even back defending.

Fair enough - I do remember at one point where he was jogging after a ball which irked me so could be something in it as you say.

Tbh, I think Sturridge gets some unfair stick on here based on an interpretation of his body language. His languid style makes it appear that he doesn't care, but I'm not convinced - I just think that's how he is. He's not the all action type that people want and expect him to be and I don't think he ever will, or can, be.
Also, his expression is hard to read. He does have a sulky gob, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is sulking - I think he's just made that way.

Agree - we looked nervous from the off whereas Sevilla were confident throughout (bar the spell after we scored).

But they have that experience of playing in such occasions and it's something that we lack throughout the team.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of egotism and arrogance from players especially when they score. There's something wrong though with overcomplacency.

I am sure a fully fit Hendo if playing would have rallied the troops better.

There is no advantage to an outfield player crouching. Goalkeepers do it to cover the gap between their hands and the floor. Surprise surprise the ball hit his hand, because that's the intention behind deliberately crouching.

Well i have finally crawled out of my pit though still feeling bit rough due to gross hangover so here are my views
we played last night in a manner which summed up our season. average start then a short period of good intense football culminating in a class goal.
then weak willed half hearted defending ,by a defence that gets so little cover from midfield, led to a goal and a total and complete collapse of the whole team.
i find the surrender by the team more worrying than the clear technical deficiencies of a large number of our squad.
At times in the second half i kept wondering if i had missed a couple of LFC players being sent off as they appeared to outnumber us.

I do wonder if the number of games added to the injuries has left a lot of our players "running" on empty as they often seem to run out of steam
anyways will be interesting to see who remains by end of transfer window

    Good point.
Weak start building up to a peak then fizzling out like a damp squib at the end.
However, a season of transition so onwards and upwards, hopefully.

I don't think its a case of wanting someone local, though I do think that has its benefits in terms of loyalty. I think its more a case of needing someone that leads by example.

I look at how the hard working Vardy & Kante have driven Leicester on all season by setting an example for the rest of the team to follow. Suarez had the same impact with us in 13/14. If we start well they all start playing like we know they can but if we get a decision or bounce of the ball going against us our heads drop really quickly, there's no one to set the tone or get our heads up by doing something like forcing a defender to win a corner, winning a big tackle in midfield etc. That is why Gerrard was so important, he didn't really talk and was a pretty quiet captain but what he did on the pitch forced everybody else to up their game and gave them a lift.

This isn't even transition. This is pre-transition. This is squad assessment. Van Gaal has spent £300m and had 2 full seasons and still says he's in transition.

I agree it's early days. What I meant by the word was the literal transition from one managerial regime to another.
Obviously the playing staff will be going through it for some time to come. It should be an ongoing thing for them anyway, unless you've got yourself a team of winners.
I don't really care what LVG says and would prefer to leave him out of it- he's struggling and using transition as an excuse.
It's not about us v them all the time.
It's hard on managers, but these days they don't get much time to prove themselves.

    Well I feel well lol...

Can't really add much more than has been said. After anger dies down reality kicks in and the big perspective is we got to two finals with this team but league position more accurately reflects how good they really are.

Weak Mentality as a group..no leaders and too many part timers.

With no Europe this year I think Klopp will be as good as his word...Bring in a spine and attempt to sell a huge bulk of this weak squad.

Then next chance he gets try and go out and find real "star" players to replace the ones we tried to convince ourselves would become them.

Looking forward to see what the squad looks like come August.

Hope you're right, but given that Klopp's first action was to give Migs a new contract then I strongly expect to still see Moreno here this time next year.

Mig isn't so bad as to make that comparison. <laugh>
He can be improved upon, but not easily given who's available and who would be ready to come to us.
Moreno could be improved upon by a wheelie bin.

Migs pulled off one great save last night, but had that been Cech, De Gea or Loris I think we'd just call it 'normal'. Not blaming him at all for our loss, but I pointed out at half time last night that he was still rooted to his line for most of the first half. He's just not good enough.

On Moreno...it looks like the young lad cares and puts effort in but he just has no game awareness in him. I don't think that deficiency can be made up adequately with coaching.

    Sell him.

But we knew that before last night and by the looks of the comments today we are starting to accept that even our current better players probably won't be in a finished Klopp product.

I'll argue that we have already been linked with several keepers and that the Loris Karius negotiations seem to be quite advanced already. I think the reason we might be keeping Mignolet is because every single top team in the PL now has 2 senior keepers on their books, something we have never really done. Chelsea have Begovic & Courtois, Man Utd have De Gea & Romero, Spurs have Vorm & Lloris, Arsenal have Cech and Ospina and we have Mignolet and Ward/Bogdan.

Maybe 10 years ago the likes of Vorm, Romero, Begovic etc. wouldn't have accepted sitting on the bench and would've gone to find regular football elsewhere but the way the game is at the moment I think there's enough money & cup appearances for them to justify being a #2 keeper now.

Moreno has some talent, but none of it is for defending. Compare him to Clyne - he knows when to foul, how to show his attacker on to his weaker foot, etc (though even he was mediocre in the 2nd half last night). Moreno is quick, has a hard, but uncontrolled shot, and mistimes his crosses. Not a lot to go on there for a left back.
