Firmino dived over his leg mate, he was never getting that ball anyway. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ee-three-handball-shouts-not-one-penalty.html
What did you think of the handball on Studge? I agree with the others, but I'm bemused that one got glossed over. Short distance, but his hands were only in a 'natural' position if he was a goalie facing a pen in a five-a-side match. But, and I re-iterate, we didn't lose this game because of the ref, we lost it because we have only one goalscorer of any modicum of class.
That was one strange game alright. Still think the 5th official behind the Sevilla goal in first half was bribed. Didn't see handballs didn't see offsides. One of those handballs was blatant, it was a sending off. Remarkable collapse by your team. Half of them looked unfit in the 2nd half.
I didn't that one was either mate tbh, as he was crouching so were should he have put his arms like? I thought the ref had a good game. He was calm and made a succession of correct calls, including over ruling the lino on their 3rd goal. Sturridge got the cigars out after his goal, you could tell from his body language and celebration that he thought he was going to be immortalised for it, the egotistical twat. Massively talented player, but he's frustrating as ****. You lacked a real leader out there last night mate, a Gerrard or a Carragher would have rallied the troops after that awful goal at the start of the 2nd half. But you couldn't see anyone stepping up and grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck after that.
Why was he crouching? Completely unnatural thing to do, if you watch it again. Someone tries to pass the ball past you, and you crouch? Never! Disagree about Studge in the second half too. We simply never got the ball to him, except when he came half way into our half once or twice. Again though, no complaints regarding the referee. We lost that game and somehow made a decent team look like Holland @ 1974, when in fact it was more like we were Derby @ 2007 in that second half.
Because they weren't 3 'clear handballs' mate, you're just blinded by the red tinteds Webb and Poll have both said the refs calls were correct. The commentators on BT said the same.
the refs decisions in the 1st 5mins, made sure none of our team wanted to put in a decent tackle for fear of his biased treatment. utter joke ref, i cant understand anyone sayong he had a good game ffs mental???
Not only him, their DoF Monchi is one of the best in the game. Constantly sells his best players for big profits and replaces them with gems.
Thought you guys were a bit unlucky last night, could have had any of those pen's although I think they were the right calls, you do see them given. Bossed that first 45 as well. Think you lads switched off at half time because you dominated, it was all looking so easy. Moreno though, what a shocking player he is! If I'd never seen him before I would have though you pulled him out of the stands. Wasn't helped out much but still some of the defending was Newcastle-esque.
You're right, and it's hard to see where you get one from. In the modern game stuffed with mercenary journeymen it's rare for a player to have such a determination to win for the club, rather than for themselves. I think it still only really works with someone local, someone with the club in their blood and their bones. Occasionally foreigners take to their adopted club in that way, but it's not the same. Even then, that spirit has to be combined with the necessary skill to carry it off. A rare breed, methinks. As for the game, I don't have any real complaints about the ref. Some of his decisions were borderline and could have gone better for us but I don't think there was anything that we could scream injustice over. We simply weren't good enough.
I was basing that on his body language and his overall performance after that goal. I could be wrong, but that was how I read it watching it live.
I don't think we bossed anything until the goal, tbh. After that they were ragged until half time and we should have cashed in on that. We started too slowly and although I wouldn't say Sturridge's goal was against the run of play, neither team was really dominant. All our best performances this season (Dortmund second leg apart) have come from being fast out of the blocks, pressing hard and moving the ball quickly. I saw none of that yesterday. We were too tentative and paid the price.
