please log in to view this image Anyone else get the same feeling? I can't stop checking Twitter/internet etc...... I'm meant to be winding down from football now... not getting all 'het up' about it again!!!!
Dont wanna scare anyone but Neil Warnock has been quoted as saying he "he would be cheaper than Benitez" also "he wants to manage a team chasing promotion" "This is not the end of me being a manager" He has 7 promotions on his CV, no one has ever won 8, he wants to try and break the record. RAFA SIGN NOW!!!!! QUICK!
I think he won't stay. I don't think they will give him the transfer budget he wants and that will be that. Its not likely he won't have other options, he'll have plenty. Things will change in many clubs around europe over the next month or so. Whereas he'd like to stay in England it won't stop him doing what he loves doing. I just can't have any confidence in this board to do the right thing.
Ashley likes money. Getting promoted is worth buckets of the stuff. I also think he has finally realised that he hasn't made very clever footballing decisions to date. I think this time they will make the right decision simply out of greed and self interest.
as of 3:00 today "Keith Downie reports that the deal to keep Rafael Benitez as Newcastle manager is close to being finalised"
There is that angle of course but things are never that simple with him. Then there is the Charnley issue (he would be pushed out somewhat under Rafa) and to a lesser extent Carr who appears to be retiring. Other it would be to a larger extent. I think the fact we still have no announcement to me suggests two things: 1. Its not as straight forward as it should be - i.e. they cave in to his demands 2. Rafa is dragging it out to see what's on the table from elsewhere
BBC saying it's about transfer funding (although no more details than that and no source) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36331354 The optimist in me says this is why it's taking a while - you don't usually set your transfer budget within two days of the season being over. The pessimist in me says we're f*cked
This decision is massive for the club. If Benitez goes, then I think we become the new Sheffield Wednesday.
Just thought I would check on what's happening about your manager. Is there a timetable for an announcement???
