Arsenal in 04 vs Chelsea in 05

I had to make this thread for two reasons.

1) I was talking to my brother about it, (he is an Arse fan) and we argue constantly about this

2) I have been agreeing with Arsenal fans vis a vis the impetuous hubris of Spurs fans lately, and I feel dirty, so want to cleanse myself with a nice old ruck with Arsenal fans.


Which achievement was better, Arsenals in 04 or Chelsea's in 05.

Records were:

Arsenal 2003-04

P 38 W 26 D 12 L 0 F 73 A 26 Points: 90

Chelsea 2004-05

P 38 W 29 D 8 L 1 F 72 A 15 Points: 95


Now, Arsenal brag about the invincibles yada yada, they got some cheap ass gold spray painted knock off PL trophy.
But what I said to my brother, and what I say to any Arsenal fan who tries to argue that the 2004 acheivement was better is this.....and there is no argument to this logic.....

In the question of which score was better, answer this:

If Arsenal and Chelsea finished the same season with those respective records, which of the two teams would be crowned champions?

Chelsea.......herego, our achievement was better......more points = better.

The 0 losses is an irrelevant stat in the grand scheme of things, its a notable achievement I guess, but Chelsea would finish above Arsenal in a league table with those two records.......so we win

Now I feel clean

 

That wouldn't happen, either you would have had to lose 2 games or draw 2 games, as it stands in our invincible season you lost both games to us if I recall correctly, that would mean minus 6 points from your 95=89, means Arsenal would have been champions anyway

 

Its hypothetical anyway, but of course it could happen, if we drew both of our games.
We would be 2 of your 12 draws, and you would be 2 of our 8 draws.

 

But that wasn't the case in our invincible season, you lost both games to us, so it would be 3 losses for you.

 

This has obviously flown right over your head.
Obviously we finished below you in 04, and you below us in 05, which is why each team won that respective season.
I am saying, that if we finished with these records (your 04 record, and our 05 record) in the SAME season, we would be crowned champions.

 

you obviously like to live in fairy land! The reality is the two is different and cannot be compared as if it would be possible in the same season and then you would be champions!

I just showed you even hypothetically this wouldn't be possible as you would have to lose more games for the invincible season and would mean less points..

Like I said, we could have both drawn our 2 games against each other.

 

But in reality that didn't happen, if you want to be realistic! You lost both games to us in the invincible season mate...

I know we lost both our games to you in 04 I am not claiming any different.
You drew both your games to us in 2005 (If I recall), but thats irrelevant.
I am saying, we earnt more points in 05 than you did in 04, so we would have taken the title.

And why would we have had to lose both games to you if they were merged into the same season?

I think I am putting you on ignore unless your next post has an extreme intelligence boost.

 

I would save the Chavbus team were better, they infact were very good, then it went to pot

The undefeated season was incredible , to me it sits alone

 

you intelligence is limited so it seems, why is it irrelevant? if you are going to compare the two seasons then everything is relevant numbnuts not just the bits that suits you.

These are two different season and circumstances but your trying to prove Chavs had a better season because more points were generated, so if we merged the seasons your better because we drew with you on your best season but you lost to us in our best season.

The thought of going undefeated in a season and getting relegated just doesn't set well with me .
