There's a big difference with thinking you're time could be better spent elsewhere and doing something 'you don't believe in'. I'd rather not spend a large amount of time ringing the council but it's part of the job and someones got to do it.
So, doing the right thing is interfering and being a twat? Let's hope that if you getting beaten up no passing twats interfere.
The police are expected to be on every street corner, following every dangerous driver, solving every crime, to be social workers, to be marriage councillors, and to in essence turn up to every tin pot little call to them no matter how ridiculous. If they do they’re wasting time and money and if they don’t their hammered for not doing it. The demands and expectations grow more and more and the resources get smaller and smaller. The fact remains that police are seen as ineffective and ****e because when a chav scrote head is being a **** – they can’t just give em a whack and throw them in a van. They have to try and reason with the dickhead and be polite at all times. It can take a full day with current bureaucratic levels to process a shop lifter. It should take about 5 minutes. I ain’t buying this ‘all police are ****s’ line football fans trot out all the time I’m sorry. If you had to spend all day dealing with the dregs of society and generally only seeing the worst of people it might skew your perceptions slightly.
Where did I say that on every occasion 'doing the right thing' is interfering and twattish? I asked a direct question - how would you feel if a passenger did that to you? Judging by your replies you'd think "it's a fair cop, guv. I'll continue to give you a lift home then I'll hand myself in at a police station".
I can imagine the scene. Two blokes beating lumps out of one other (pick your own victim), a passer by just watches. When asked why he didn't help he says 'them two seemed to be doing okay on their own'.
That's pretty much the point I made. The resources are not focussed in the key areas. As for experiencing it, you'd probably be surprised at the experience some posters on here have.
If they joined the plod force to spend their days hiding behind trees in order to trap motorists doing 3 miles over the speed limit just to swell the force's coffers then fair enough. Same with being arrogant with no common sense, an inability to think for themselves, & an acceptance of being at ease with & involved in large scale corruption.
It's interesting to see that the defence of plod on the ground not speaking up about inefficiency and failings, is that they have intolerant employers that would sack them for doing it. Hardly a glowing endorsement.
It's a fair question. Castro's implying that if you worked in the public sector, you'd be free to question those above. Hmm, are Police public sector?
