I'm having to double check the report, trying to see where they got this story from!

Can some one explain this to me in real financial terms?

BRB, where the report says 21 million, that doesn't mean it all goes to the Gills. It is how much the deal is worth. Still a healthy amount indeed!

21m over 7 years is 3m per year lets say 30 home games per season means thats £100,000 in pie sales per game,
5,000 gates means every pikey has to eat £20 worth of pies every game
and if they cost £2 thats 10 pies each <ok>

a decent amount of money for us...although i'd say it's £12.3 not £21.3 over 7 years (sounds about right?)
if sheff wed/huddersfield are £8 and £10..or whatever for 3/5 years?...£12.3 sounds much more like it.
    must be a print error.....surely!!!

if it's right though.......well done PAUL SCALLY <ok>

next up a NEW STADIUM, along with bigger crowds....or am i getting ahead of myself abit? :smiley-finger007:

    knock yourself out!

The figure is obviously the gross sales by Lindley over the next 7 years and I guess most of it is contract catering for corporate events at Priestfield. Matchday pie and chips is only going to be a small proportion of this. So if the raw materials are 50% of this and wages/overheads take up another 30 or 40% there may be a margin of 10% or so to share between the club and the caterer. It may be worth £150K or so for the club annually or more likely the caterer will guarantee this sort of figure and take the risk of making some money itsself.
Either way it is no big deal and the previous caterer was pretty good so it might just mean a bit of a price increase for Joe Public. The interesting thing is how the Gills contract could be worth more than Sheff Wed or Huddersfield which hosts rugby league as well. Some of the numbers look suspect.

Bristol - I can't see that being right only 150k to the club, based on a min of 23 home games x attendance, just for starters - also 50% on raw materials with someone Lindley's size?

Got to be a good 500k in it surely per annum?

If they can only make a profit of 150k then I need to get my Venky contacts in <ok>

Slightly more / different information here, which seems to confirm the £21.3m :

    http://www.caterersearch.com/Articl...ns-seven-year-deal-at-Gillingham-Football.htm

However no real clarification about the 'worth £21.3m'. I also think that figure is likely to be gross turnover, although how they can give a figure with such accuracy (not even an 'about') over a 7 year period is still a bit mystifying.

It is represented as a joint venture, and so I presume there will be a level of profit share, and I very much dubt that PS would have entered into the deal unless there was a significant long term benefit by working with Lindley over Compass.
