We won a place in the Europa League. In my mind a reward for performance is winning something even if there is no trophy given. However, more importantly, as has been well documented elsewhere, we finished above Liverpool for the first time and that is surely worth celebrating. Year on year progress is also worth raising a glass to.

Also Koeman is an experienced manager....if he looks pleased and excited, I think we are entitled to. He knows an achievement when he sees it.

There are two players I felt sorry to see go, and am saddened about the outcome. Rickie, of course, as my name implies. That was pure sentiment. He represented the rise from the ashes as much as any single player, and I always felt he could only go down after leaving us, and boy he has. The other is Morgan. He had given us some great years, and we'd enjoyed watching a young kid develop into a very mature player. The sentiment of wishing him well was almost universal, but now he is unlikely to play for France in the Euros after an indifferent season. Of all of the leavers, he was the one I thought would be huge success on a bigger stage, but then none of us could foresee the Van Gal effect.

As for Lallana. Hang on, he could have gone when we were in Division One, but he played a massive part in our rise. Did he behave stupidly when he wanted away? Oh yes, in spades. He comes across as hardly the sharpest knife in the drawer. For his service to the club I'll forgive him, but I don't want to see him get a winner's medal on Wednesday - but that's because it's Liverpool. Oh, how petty!

Still cringe at every single one of these threads, as Beefy said, just get over it, it's been nearly 2 years. It wasn't anything personal against the club, they just wanted to move on. If, in a hypothetical world, I was a professional footballer playing for Saints and a big club (Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City) offered me more money, then I'd be off in a shot.

Do you all get like this with ex girlfriends? 2 years down the line and you still moan about them to anyone that'll listen.

Football is all about emotions, some good, some not so good, but its healthy to talk, and laugh about things. So stop suppressing your feelings and join in......

If not, choose a different thread, the clue is in the title, its not a trick to lure people in.

Agree we should move on but they'll be acutely aware that we've finished above them and their reasoning for moving on hasn't been vindicated (except the £££££ which is more of a driver than us football fans like to see).

Isn't saying people should move on expressing a feeling? Just because some want to go on about players that left, doesn't mean others can't disagree. This is a public forum. As long as people aren't abusing others, every view should be treated the same.

Europa cup final is a great reason.

I'm naffed off that they're there. Don't let the win it. This is nothing to do with Nathaniel et al. Just because it is Liverpool FC. One of my embittered Evertonian mates said to me the day after the Villareal game

"Here we go. Another final for them to draw, then get given the ****ing cup"

The "miracle" of Istanbul;Gerrard's last second equaliser against West Ham; luckily beating Cardiff all rub salt into old wounds for the Blues. As I loath LFC more than any other club I share the feeling!

If I might disagree with Beefy, but not for the reason you think. I think that most (not Lovren perhaps) of the players who left do have fond memories of Saints and do care about the club. Whatever you do for a living now, chances are that many of you started doing that working for somebody else. You get a better offer, you leave. It's life.
I don't think Adam was being disingenuous with his rather crass Echo advert. He had to make a decision at a point where the opportunity might not come again. How many of us would turn down a doubling of our salary to join a competitor?
Of course, I might care about the old firm, genuinely. And I shouldn't be surprised if they were pretty upset that I had left them. But it's not like a fan changing allegiance. These guys are professional athletes.

So I have moved on. But I still feel entitled to laugh when any of them falls flat on their faces.

The Liverpool fan here in work rates both Lovren (in particular) and Lallana but not Clyne who he thinks can't control the ball and is not the astute, tactical player they were expecting. I was stunned, to say the least...

Clyne has his weaknesses but I thought he'd done pretty well there.

    My 2p

I work in IT (don't all hate me) and I see myself as a bit of an 'IT prostitute' - I go where the money is. Miraculously, I have been with the same company for 5 years now. Previous to that it was 4 companies in 7 years. I get paid to do a job, if I feel I am not rewarded well, I move on if I can get money else where. (Bear with me) I've not changed jobs, not because I love the company, not because I can't get more money, but because it suits me. I'm not getting any younger (FLT will testify this as he's older [emoji6])

The difference is that I don't have 30,000+ people every week depending on me for their leisure and escapism from our lives. I am a small cog in a company, not a major asset.

We as fans care for the club, for all players, Saints are their employer. If circumstances dictate another club (money, potential trophies etc) are more appealing, then they go. I would in my job role, so why not them. Couple that with youth and inexperience, and you can see why players move on. I don't get emotionally tied to my job, and neither do they.

However I work to live in my job, if I had been handed the talents to play football , I would live to work - so they want to be the most successful they can in the small time allotted to their professional career.

What my long ramble is saying is that I can see why their heads are turned.

However, Louvren is still a c**t and will always be [emoji6]

Also, you can have a long career in IT; as long as you like if you keep up with new innovations etc but a footballer's career is very limited and usually over before the age of 35. In that position, I'd jump at more money too as it's common sense. Not all footballers end up presenting MotD and most, I would imagine, find it difficult to drop down to earth with the need to train and learn for a "proper" job. When everything's been handed to you on a silver platter, fending for yourself with little money would be impossible for them.

Knows bugger all about Football. The clue is in the phrase "Liverpool fan"!

I imagine, being that you don't live in or near Liverpool, that (s)he's an armchair fan? I have friends who have been ST holders since Shankly was in short trousers. They think Clyne is good; Lallana is promising; Lovren is marginally better than a traffic cone (this represents a massive improvement on their earlier assessments). BTW, the bizarre nature of footballing likes and dislikes, these are blokes who I'd trust with my life, but I still loath their bloody team. Mad, ain't it?
