He won't be in the final 23. I think Woy has already said that.

He is in with a good chance to impress and it only takes one injury in the final warm-up games and the boy could be in with a real chance

Do him no harm to be in the training squad.

Would just as soon he didn't go to the actual tournament though.

Roy will take Sturridge who will do absolutely **** all as usual (except maybe tweak a muscle). Welbeck will be severely missed.

Best thing about Rashford being in the squad is watching everyone crying about it

    This.

I doubt any player needs the crushing burden of expectation that comes with being the next saviour of England's paltry hopes of avoiding embarrassing themselves at a tournament. Playing alongside such luminaries as Milner, Lallana and Henderson will do him **** all good tbh, although it won't hurt to get a bit of a different view around training and match prep in the early squad.

It's great to see the headliner in the squad is Rashford in all the media. ABU's must be seething. I imagine certain newspapers and tv news companies will have suffixes of "salford" added to their names.

    Here's the squad anyway...

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Andros Townsend (Newcastle United), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).

All the ones in red show why we're fcked. Look at that midfield ffs, what a waste <doh>

Sturridge should not be in red, he is producing goals for Liverpool, but the rest I agree on

Provided Hodgson picks the right team then the players in red shouldn't be near the team anyway. If he plays the diamond again, he can have Dier at the base with Drinkwater and Alli in the centre and Rooney or Barkley at the tip, then Kane and Vardy up front.

Rashford, Sturridge and Rooney / Barkley to come off the bench gives us great potential impact subs. The only weakness is in central defence, where Smalling doesn't really have a quality partner at the moment - Stones is too shorn of confidence due to Martinez and Cahill is not good enough.

The only risk is that Hodgson doesn't pick the best players and instead reverts to the Wilshere, Henderson and Milner option which was fine in qualifying but will be ripped to shreds by any decent side.

Spot on, Will Roy play the talent or revert to the usual dross, hopefully it'll be the dross from my point of view. Roy has been very fortunate with Ali and Vardy stepping up along with Dier being able to hold the midfield.

If I was picking the team then...

    Hart
    Clyne Smalling Stones Bertrand
    Dier
    Drinkwater Ali
    Barkley
    Vardy Kane
You have options then in bringing Rooney on for Barkley, Sturridge for either striker.

Some will argue the Stones thing as he's not playing well, but he's a quality defender who can play from the back and is the lesser of evils.

That's pretty much my team, although I would have Rooney starting over Barkley as otherwise you have pretty much zero international experience in midfield, and Rooney has done well in the withdrawn role for us this season. Barkley would also have more impact coming off the bench imo.

Some minor changes to yours. I don't think Woy has much option but to go with Cahill as Stones has not been good all season, he's not suddenly going to produce the goods against quality opposition. I prefer Rose to Bertrand (Shaw is better than both FFS!) and Rooney will start ahead of Barkley.

I'd also have to go Wilshere ahead of Drinkwater if he's fit as he really is the better player.

    Hart
    Clyne Smalling Cahill Rose
    Dier
    Wilshere Ali
    Rooney
    Vardy Kane

**** all width but then we don't really have any.

Yeah that's going to be an interesting choice, personally I think start Barkley and see if he can step up from being the lad with so much talent to someone who actually delivers. It's not as though experience has got you anywhere before.

Wilshire will surely be rusty even if fit, that would be a risk but then again Drinkwater my feel the pressure and not perform. I'm a big fan of Bertrand a class player imo, solid, dependable, a great defender and effective going forward.

Stones is a risk but how many **** ups is Cahill allowed before he gets the boot?

    Or fresh as a daisy!

Not much between the left backs really and maybe you're right on Cahill, who I don't rate at all but see as less of a risk. Maybe Stones will benefit having Smalling with him and Dier in front.
