Not sure about that. Terry has started most games when he's not been sent off or injured...also you could make the argument its because he hasn't been playing that we have been mid table.

A bit like saying Origi couldn't make it into the Liverpool mid table side either and couldnt play himself ahead of Ings or Bentesky or how Martin Skrtel was your number 1 centre back the past 5 years until his recent injury :p

Terry's never missing from any presentation ceremony feasibly within a day's travel though

Youve looked a lot better defensively in last few without him. The guys past it, can't cope and his massive lack of pace means whole team have to alter their style to try protect him.

Agree with many on here. Why is he taking the little gob****e that is Wilshere with him? He is a League 1 player at best. If Arsenal seriously want to challenge in Europe next season he should be nowhere near their first team. As for England, is not remotely good enough!!

I thought you knew of my opinion on him... i mentioned it in the premierleague rival thread. Unfortunately you are bang on the money... If you want to play him you have to sacrifice dominating possession or have enough players back to cover...

Our defence needs some major re-work personally.

I don't know. Azpilicueta is cracking full back either side. He reminds me of Arbeloa will give you 7-10 every single week.

Cahill is solid, Zouma looked a player.

Not sure ivanovic has had much of a future unless it's a CB. He looked lost at RB this year, pace seemed to have gone.

I said he was done even during our title winning run where he made up for it by goals ala skrtel but had been sketchy defensively.

He's gone even slower since and thats why i wouldnt want to go CB as we might as well just play Terry there.

Cahill is a steady eddy but nothing outstanding. Zouma looked good but had a serious injury as you say.

Dave i think is our only top defender. Strong and Pacey and he's okay going forward too. It's been criminal we've made him a LB when he's our best defender. Think he's far better than Arbeloa who was just a solid defender. Rahman looks like he has potential but is pretty similar to Moreno minus the 2 years of prem experience. Hope he's given some time.

So basically 1 great defender, 1 solid to average in Cahill who if we want to be a great team we need to replace and 2 defenders with potential.

cahill i don't rate at all.

I think chelsea will want 2 cbs. city will want 2 as well.... utd need one, arsenal need one and we unfortunately still need another too.

Seems to be theres going to be a hell of a bidding war over a few guys this summer.

    Zouma is yuong and inexperienced.

Azpilicueta is a very very good RB.

Cheslea need an LB to go with.. thats huge IMO.

    What a gash squad.

We're at least 15 years away from challenging for a tournament win and it's not got nothing to do with PL clubs not playing enough English players; if they were good enough, they'd get games.

    I dunno

for say 46 clubs (including the championship) to be unable to make an LCB in 10 year or a real LW in what.. 25 years is damning.

    Lets face it

Hart... average enough.. forester had to come through celtic. We had a few keepers like green and foster but they all spat the dummy.
Clyne.. meh, sorry we big him up but he's not great. walker is worse
    Rose and bertrand.. meh
Stones, smalling, dier, cahill.. god... smalling is ok, came from non league to fulham to utd. stones was made in barnesly... cahill.. who gives a toss dier came form germany.. not one CB from premier league club... not ONE!

I hink the list goes on... the academy structures in the prem are systematically failing IMO.

I've had a few discussions with my mates already but might as well share my opinions here which probably back what most are saying.

    - Noble deserves a shot in this team. Roy has tried everyone else. He is better and has performed better than Delph. Wake up Roy!

    - Rashford, although a good prospect, should not be in this squad. He's there as a gesture. We haven't got time for that. We need a genuine option and that was Carroll - our team lacks a 'plan b' and he offers that. 80 mins in and 1v1 or a goal down and things not working/stalemate - he'd be worth a shout, bullying those foreigners! We have a lot of similar players atm. If not him then Defoe or leftfield shout in Troy Deeney. All of those over Rashford.

    - Walcott. I don't mind the guy but his lack of club ambition has cost him his place in this tea. Should have moved for first team football. Self inflicted.

    - Chamberlain. Good player and its a shame he hasn't done enough. Hopefully, unlike Walcott, he will move for first team football and prove his worth.

    - Henderson lucky to be in this team. Been injured or poor this season. Lack of alternative gives him a place.

    - Wilshire. Could go either way. Could be fresh for England or a total pussy and get inured and a waste of a place. Lets see.

    - Stones. Has been ****e all season. Lucky we are very short in CB's. No way deserved his place. Needs to be taken out of the heat to get his confidence back.

    - Barkley. Hopefully rediscovers his form for country and learns not to be so greedy. Could be a really useful player this summer.

    - Sterling. Also been largely ****e this year. Can't get a game. Could still be useful but I'd put Townsend in first.

    - Rooney. Actually little pressure on him this time. We have others who can score now, he needs to produce an all-round performance. I just beg Roy not to play him up front on his own.

    - A little worried about the Spurs players. They were on cloud nine not long ago but have taken a massive whack. We need their guys to perform. Hopefully they can.

    - CB an obvious weak point.

I actually feel we have the players to have a good go and I hope Roy doesn't muck up the opportunity with bizarre selections.

I don't actually mind Wilshire. I know he's barely played it if he gets through the warm up games then no probs. He's the only midfielder that can carry the ball forward in the CM role.

Noble is unlucky, I think noble, Drinkwater, Hendo are all one of the same. They're all decent standard pass the ball sidewards midfielders.

Surprised by lack of CB's but then who else is there? Jag maybe unlucky one.

Forwards, if going on form, Defoe should be in there. Unfortunately we have 2 types of forwards, Kane and Rooney are similar in style, not very mobile. Sturridge and Vardy are on the shoulder. We don't have a Defoe in the box predator or a different option in Carroll. I think you could have actually dropped Rooney into midfield and taken Sturridge, Kane, Vardy, Defoe and Carroll a your 5 forwards.

Dier, Ali, Rooney, Wilshire as yor CMs.

I agree RE Rooney but it is still a risk and Roy isn't known for those.

Lol the state of English football when the likes of Mark Noble are close to being in the squad.

heard the noble argument a lot. says it all how bad we've become.

Agree on rashford. Ted above commented on owen.. but owen was given games prior to selection in a tournament squad. rashford hasn't has he? Theres 5 strikers so he should not go.

walcott. I agree, very average player in terms of drive

Ox. agree. injury did for him

Henderson.. yeah... shows how poor england are

whilshire. IMO rubbihs pick and not up to this.

    Stones. yes.. he's lucky.

Barkely.. over weight, big ego, another who's lucky

Sterling. solid for england, has been a hodgson lock so he is in first team i think

Rooney. yes i agree pressure is on. could play no 10... I agree must have vary up there to play with

Spurs morale... hmmm... well... players can be fickle. I could see them totally ignoring their slump but alli seems to have coincided with spurs drop off so was he that vital to them? Kane is golden boot, he will be confident.

    My team pick

    Hart
    Clyne Smalling Cahill Rose
    henderson delph (water carriers)
    Rooney (advanced CM)
    Sterling Kane vardy

He does now his career has been average enough? I eman ok delph is crap but drinkwater has done quite well... but you are better than? in your head...

I mean fair enough he's had a good season this year and been a consistent and loyal player for west ham. but there you go.. hodgson doesn't fancy you but it says it all when you say retire never having had a cap so that is a classic prem footballer ego.
