Seriously though happens with people in the champions league too. Was it fair that spurs didnt get to go cl cause a ****ty chelsea team won the cl. Probs not but thems the rules.

Also incentivises teams to play properly rather than the farce of what happened to the pl where half the teams were on the beach in the last games this season

 

We knocked a team out of the 2005 CL semi final that had finished the league 19 points and two places ahead of us the season before when we both qualified for the competition. Them's the rules. Who can foretell the randomness of the strobe light on the glitterball?

Two completely different things, a league is a test of endurance and consistency against the same teams that everyone else plays, a cup is a lottery and is mostly won by teams that "turn up" for a few games.

To qualify for that cup was based upon league-placings (top four). To qualify for the play-off is based on league-placings (3-7 inc). I see more similarities than differences here.

Not really, one is to qualify to play against teams you haven't played before, the other is to qualify to play against teams you have already proved you are better than over a full season.

 

Did not Chelsea prove that against us in 2004? Did not you last season? (see Tobes, I shoe-horned our last 16 EL tie against Uniturd into it as well now).

 

Lets say (just for fun) that Liverpool finish 1st next season but, in the summer the rules are changed so that the top 4 have to play off against each other to decide who is champions, would you be happy with that?

Poor Burnley. They won the league, but they weren't promoted. Scandalous, I say, and I wouldn't have believed it until you told me that's what happened.

In all fairness, whether the package had the biggest yellow letters imaginable stating it was a training bag belonging to the company - that bloke had signed off a paper stating they had all been recalled!

That info would have been checked and they therefore had little choice but to do the full emergency protocol.

That guy has ****ed up by signing that off and its led to all of this. There should definitely be an investigation as to why it was only found half hour before KO as well though.
