So how will any of that apart from point 3 make rashford more important to england than Defoe in THIS tournament?

Yes evidently, hence why we are having a discussion about it.

Neither are going in this tournament. How many times do I need to say that?

You've got beef (despite your initial denial) with Rashford's inclusion. So you make up your own facts (conversion rate) to try and dismiss the talents of Rashford, because you're foaming about Defoe's exclusion.

Woy has said if Rashford goes it's because he's done something extraordinary in these friendlies and if that's the case, folk like you can have ya pie pre-tourney <ok>

    See my first post.

You have beef because you think Rashford is going to France, he's not. Chill out.

Tel, if Defoe was playing for Man U. How many goals do you think he would have scored over the season.

Playing for a poor side like us he's got 15 I believe.
If he played for a top side like yours I reckon he would have had loads more chances and thus loads more goals.

I hope Rashford does great, I wish we had him.
I also think that Defoe would have been a good option but I never really expected him to be picked.
At least he should be spared any injury and be fresh for next season.

Well the fact of the matter is that Defoe has been overlooked, and with that in mind I have no problem with this young lad being given a chance..
It will be interesting if he bangs a few goals in the up and coming friendlies matches which would give Roy a right dilemma...
    Good luck to the lad..

    Nope.
Couldn't give a toss about England, Graham Taylor cured me.

Just proving you can make a case for Defoe over Rashford without data fiddling.

And yes, you can make a case for Rashford ahead of Defoe as well.

Bugger, I'm in the loft, all the chocolate is in the kitchen, but I can't be arsed to move.
    Dilemma or what.
    Nadgers.

I'll say it for a third time for you , because you obviously struggle to take things in. I have no beef with rashford, I think he's a decent player with big potential but IMO not ready for the national team at such a time.

I think we've both said all there is to say, and it's probably worth leaving there isn't it?

Unless you want to tell me I've got beef with rashford again? <laugh>

But seriously , thanks for the debate, and goodnight.

How many would he score for us if he could get in the team?

It's hard to say, I'd say similar or less. We've been poor going forward this season, far too slow. Martial is on 17 for the season and he's an incredibly talented forward. Could Defoe handle all the extra games? Teams defend a lot deeper against us... It's hard to say mate.

I'm not knocking his achievement this season by the way, I just feel it's the right choice by the manager in this case.

Just for future reference, making facts up doesn't add gravity to your argument.

It's been this way all my life since mid 60's with Sunderland - Monty, Toddy (left before he played ) Dave Watson in addition to those mentioned.
But on this occaision with Defoe it is a sign that England will struggle to score as we have few international experienced strikers .
Defoe is a good reliable goalscorer
    to have in reserve.
    I really hope I'm wrong.

<doh> Yeah Rooney has no experience finding the net for England.

We need Defoe's experience natural born winner, if only Rooney had half of his medals.

Exactly the future not the here and now.
When playing against seasoned international defenders - you need an internationally reliable goalscorer not undoubted potential - but Rashford ain't going and experience is lacking in that squad - please no going on about Rooney - it's embarrassing tbh

How the hell is Rooney ahead of defoe ?(cause he plays for Man u) hehe. The euro's is too early for Rashford, Stones has been terrible for the last few weeks.

He has a great goals record for England in friendlies and qualifiers, but has so far never looked the part in the business end of major tournaments..Hopefully this will be the year that he shines...

    Agree too early for Rashford.

Do you understand the concept of winning?

Rooney wins things, Defoe well, he doesn't.

One of the top scorers at the Euro's <ok>

I agree though, on the whole he's been a bit damp.

I'm not sure he will start mind.

Rooney imo is an important part of the team but not a deadly goalscorer - he has a different role now.
Defoe is deadly in a struggling team but we arn't seen as a big as the favoured teams atm -
    Hopefully BSA will change this.
I think England will rue Defoe's absence .
