Is there a single Saints fan out there who over the next week doesn't want a hattrick of Bmouth, Sevilla, and Palace wins?

5th place and EL group stage for us. No trophy for Liverpool. No Europe for Liverpool. No trophy for Utd. EL qualifying for Utd. No Europe for West Ham and their taxpayer funder stadium.

The bigger picture would be, though, for a Liverpool win, so they can't just focus on the league next season, as they could be back into the top four if they have no other distractions. Though I still prefer a Sevilla win.

That's why I corrected someone who thought they could now support Palace in the cup....sadly not. I want them to win the cup, so from a Europa POV we can forget all about the game yet to play. We can then support Bournemouth so that we keep 5th.

Bournemouth win tomorrow and then we can cheer Palace on in the cup... oh hang on. Smug faced Pards???? Damn, this one is going to be hard.

Oh come on now, not another rotter. JPT manager. That counts for good. At least just be neutral about him.

I shall be cheering for Palace [if I bother at all]. Bournemouth to win tomorrow.

Sorry. Didn't like him before he came to Saints. Wasn't sure about him when he came and still don't like him. I am grateful for the JPT day out at Wembley. I can show gratitude and still not like someone :(

and one of mine ... hence my gratitude :)

I guess it's one of the differences between me and a football fan. I didn't know enough about Pardew before he came to Saints to form an opinion and neither did I care. All I knew was he was a capable manager and a good choice at the time. Turns out he wasn't ideal, but one year later we found the right man.

Which is another thing. Some Saints fans still don't like Adkins !?! <doh>

I know he could grate sometimes, but balance the good and the bad and the good won by a mile.

I genuinely believe there are people in life who just don't know how to deal with positive people. They just can't handle it. Nigel is a wonderful man.

Indeed, it takes all sorts. I sometimes try to imagine the world of the instant doubter, the cynical first, and the negative sniper. I'm sure they have their methods of finding their dubious pleasures but it must be convoluted. Life's complicated enough for me to double think everything or imagine agendas everywhere. If someone tells me they're happy and positive, without knowing anything about them to the contrary, I tend to believe them. Hence I was always going to like Nigel Adkins, even if he did say football player instead of footballer once too often. :)

Talking of Adkins where will he end up next? He is very articulate, well educated so maybe a job in football education would suit him just as much as football management. It must sap his confidence to have been shown the door at both Reading and Sheffield United after little more than a year in each job so I just hope his next employers have more confidence in him!! Maybe Crewe if they haven't got anyone permanent, or Tranmere who should get promotion back the the FL next season as thye were going like a train towards the season's end.

It's a shame Charlton's board are such a shambles because he'd be loved there, they'd appreciate someone like Nigel and it'd be a good project for him too.

Cobblers!!

Right, I've got myself confused. What happens if:

Man Utd beat Bournemouth ( to get 5th and qualify for EL)
C Palace bear Man Utd (and qualify for EL)
Liverpool beat Seville (qualify for CL)

Are we definitely still in EL???

We are at worst in Europa league play-off, whatever happens.

Yes, we just have to progress via the play offs. Sevilla and Liverpool have no bearing on oit Europa League entry.

Ok thanks. Had get myself confused about e 'maximum 7 clubs in Europe' thing

Yeah, I was confused to begin with
That maximum of 7 clubs in Europe thing is a tad mis-leading and not as a clear cut as it sounds.

Basically if Liverpool qualified for Europe domestically and won the Europa league then their domestic qualification would not be passed down to another club.
Because they finished outside European qualification places in England, the rule is that it's unfair on sides who have legitimately qualified to be denied a place because of another team winning an outside competition.

All this talk about Europa league has been a waste of time. It's all about Spammers and the Scousers. We do get a brief mention!

EDIT: had written an explanation why that article exists, but seen in hindsight that the topic has been gone over, so deleted it. I did, however, notice that our match report was hidden way down the page that evening, though - when I thought it was in actual fact the story of the day (of the matches that were played), after the St. Totteringham Day massacre and City getting CL.

Is there any chance Man United don't want Europa, so may try to avoid a result tomorrow...?
