Pretty easy to figure if he did eye gouge Costa, find Costa and see how many eyes he has left. Hopefully we will learn, do it in the tunnel after the match out of sight of the cameras. Alternatively, they could have waited until after the match, broke into their dressing room and given them all a good kicking. Spurs would have been fined for failing to control their players but that is going to happen anyhow. There would be no individual supensions, just a few criminal assult charges.
Yeah but if you bite someone every week, a mere eye gouge could be viewed as friendly banter. However, if you are one of the fairest, cleanest, most skillful players in the league then a quick poke in the eye could been seen as you totally losing it. Particularly if you have been on the receving end for 45 minutes, case proven, there is a motive. Sewage never had any motive except perhaps hunger.
It is bizarre that two footed potentially (or actual) career threatening challenges get the "standard" three match ban, but for Dembele (with all the mitigation previously mentioned) they make an exception and give double that. There may be some excuse if they regularly upped the three match ban to reflect the severity of the challenge almost never do. But for this, and not others who have done the same thing, they give exceptional punishment. Can I again (sorry it may be getting boring) mention the fact that I haven't heard any analysis in the media about the "inconsistencies" thrown up by the Torres incident. (Well Danny Kelly mentioned it but didn't say any more than he didn't get any punishment for it, and he's a Spurs supporter.) Basically, the FA have ruled that if you get booked for a bad challenge, you can then eye gouge your opponent providing the ref doesn't see it, as apparently it's all part of the same thing.

As to what punishment Dembélé should get, reasonable people may differ. To me, it looked bad, it was certainly unsportsmanlike, and three games seems about right. On the other hand, I don’t see how any reasonable person can defend how the FA has handled this issue, the Chelsea game, or football in general. To take an eagle’s eye view, a regulatory body like the FA has a choice between trying to act like a fair broker, and trying to create the best possible league for fans and players. They manage to be complete failures at both, which takes some doing. Their punishments are ridiculously inconsistent, their rulings break their own strange rules, they seem completely unable to read or write, and they put the kangaroo in "kangaroo court." I have trouble believing anyone trying to do a good job could do as badly as the FA. It may be time to realize they and not Ted Cruz are Lucifer in the flesh.
Think the FA have created a big problem for themselves tbh. I think that Dembele deserved a ban (like everyone else on here. Personally I think 6 is OTT but the problem will come back to bite them on the arse next season. The first incident next season involving an over the top tackle, deliberate elbow, off the ball incident is going to be measured against Dembele's 6 game ban. Fans, clubs and the press will have a field day imo. I think that the response of the club suggests that they are going to learn lessons regarding not rising to the bait and keeping our hreads and back our players so am not particularly worried about us. The club have been very gracious towards Leicester from the minute the match ended instead of hiding by complaining which is refreshing imo. The players made the right noises and after the summer, if they are thinking right, they should use this season as an additional incentive.

Costa is now guaranteed a 6 match ban for the first eye 'touching' incident next season. Of course, watch the FA then cover their collective cowardly arses by claiming the officials 'saw and dealt with it' .

Just saw this on BBC London. How can Chelsky be given a 150K odd bigger fine, when Clatterf**K only gave them 3 yellows, and there was no post-match citing of their players ... ??
So what you are saying is that Chelsky have previous, and anyone vaguely FA-related could have seen the end outcome of that game coming well in advance.
Why do you think that they picked Clattenburg? The exact same reason that he's got the Champions League final. He'll do as he's told and he'll do his best to keep all of the stars on the pitch, just as the officials have been instructed to do this season. We're in the entertainment business and that's what people want to watch, apparently.
