Small world. A Notts Horn and a Norway horn with Little Long Eaton Connections. I do hope he isn't a red!
It seems he wasn't too popular at Pompey last season but we're not in the market for the perfect full back really. So long as he can defend and use his left football well then so be it. The "lack of pace" rumoured might be a concern but we have to give the lad a chance. Afteral he would have not played for a Stoke side pushing for promotion if he was that bad... Also 250k isn't a bad fee and he's only 24 so got time to improve/learn from any mistakes.
i'm sure we can get him up to speed...we seem to be good at getting people fitter than they may never have expected they could be...
Market - lets not forget we did win promotion in 06 with Jordan Stewart at left back. Although i am sure we have made a good signing here. lol
Good point..he had pace but not much else so being quick isn't everything ofcourse! Anyway we'll see - it will give the other defenders confidence to know there is somebody with a left foot in that important LB role and so long as the guy does a decent job I don't mind if he isn't the quickest.
I think we have the pace elsewhere on the pitch, we needed a firm tackler who can scare the pants off a striker. Our defence was too small and young last year so teams were happy to attack them, but seeing a big skin-head can really put a guy off making the run. Especially after 1-2 crunching tackles.
Dont forget guys its all well and good being a speed merchant but if you havent got the ability to read the game it isnt going to get you anywhere! I would rather have intelligent players then headless chickens!
One things for certain, there is less chance of Buckley running rings round us when Brighton visit!! He never fancied it against tough tacklers.
