well well well .. will Ashley and co feel the wrath , guys got away with it once will he get away with it again ..how much will the attendances drop off ..thoughts
Figure initially they will be about 40,000+ but if successful they'll go back up to about the 50,000 mark. Bit like last time.
We were lower than 40,000 matey, averaging nearer mid 30's, I think. Still vastly superior to any other club and happy to be corrected? Basically, if they convince Rafa to stay, average will be over 40,000. If they manage to fck everything up (replace "do a Homer" with "do a Charnley") and appoint plastic geordie Bruce, then I see it dwindling quite rapidly.
Crikey, I stand (happily) corrected!!!! That really is impressive. If we keep Rafa it will be higher, particularly if - as a result of sticking with El Magnifico - we keep better players, strengthen in the right areas (for a change) and genuinely start the season well.
Of course relegation is ****, but last time round the world was crashing around us. We went down with a whimper, there was little hope, much more bad feeling, and in my opinion a worse squad. Not to mention a financial position which could have seen us put out of business if Ashley hadn't have banked rolled the losses. I think the feeling is better this time around and people will continue to go. If Rafa stays then we will be close to selling out every week.
I actually thought this was a thread announcing Eric Gates was our new target for manager... Thank fooooooook for that.
I had just thought to myself that I wasn't very happy about seeing Gates mentioned now that we know we have to try and win promotion again!
Maybe so....and if 45,000 fans turning up to watch Preston, Rotherham, Burton and Brentford to mention a few, then ok, pleased it makes you feel better.
Will be a change going to the game thinking we might get something rather than it being a miserable chore.Bring it on keep Rafa and build a squad. The prem can have there super Sunday of Watford v Burnley ant the 4 o'clock kick off of Bournemouth v Palace....box office stuff.....ffs
We, as fans, cannot buy better players for our team. We cannot train them, prepare them for match days or get their diet and downtime correct so that they can hit their physical peak when required. We cannot control who the next manager is or whether our owner invests or not. We have no actual say in the position of Lee Charnley, the running of our 2nd team or youth team. Nor can we dictate the colour, the cost or the style of the kit. We can't control which staff members lose their jobs as a result of relegation or reduce pay-offs for under-performing people who have caused this mess. We can't even rely on match-days being match-days, they will be moved at the will and whim of the league, the clubs and the television companies. All we can actually do is support our team through thick and thin. If you do not wish to take pride in supporting your team then that is your choice, I however will indeed be pleased to see if - and i do mean if - we get high attendences next season. We have been starved of success as a club, and as a region, and sometimes all you can take pride in is the fact that you can still hold your hand up and say you support your team.
I think that it would be a great achievement for such clubs to play in front of such large crowds and is something certainly not to be ashamed of. In fact, I am pleased to bits that Proper Football still exists to some such level where this can happen. Otherwise, just what is the point? Would you rather the American Major League style of competition where no-one gets relegated or promoted? There is a price to pay to maintain the freshness and interest in the leagues and this year it's time for Newcastle to pay along with Aston Villa and Norwich City. And it's a price worth paying else the whole thing becomes stale and pointless. And, lastly. Don't mock that sides such as Burton, Preston are playing in the Championship; they deserve to be applauded. As any sports fan would tell you.
Really depends on what the fans are being offered. NUFC with Rafa leading a resurgence, or, some no mark bottom feeder and a contract extension for Saylor. I really hope it's the first option, because if the club hierarchy lets Rafa slip through the net for any other reason than Rafa choosing what he thinks is a better option, then the ground deserves to be deserted. He is the best since SBR and Keegan and if they mess up, surely the support must take a stand against such incompetence.
If Rafa stays....... It will, and should be, a fookin Full House every game.... We will owe that to the man!!! Up the Toon..!!!! P.S............. Penfold and Fatty.!!!?.... If you **** this up,........... We will hunt you down like rabid dogs and feed you to the pigs..(mackems)..
