You'll get no argument from me, reference our passing today. I exchanged texts with my son, and we both mentioned inside the first 20 minutes, how poor the passing was. Mane regularly baffles me, with his ability to create space, hold the ball up then misplace a 5 yard pass, but today it was most of them. And, as you say, it wasn't just wayward passing but the weight of passes. Maybe the training pitches aren't as wet as the SMS one always is? Still always good to win, especially when not at our best.
Just a thought, I thought Shane was off the boil today, Sadio was too selfish at times, and Pelle was show boating towards the end of the game when a simple pass may have been more effective, Vics passing was better when he did it first time, it was when he stop to think about his options where they seem to go astray. Dusan was a bit theatrical, but I guess those tackles hurt a bit? Hey ho we won 4 - 1 against a team that had our measure in the first half, rectified by astute substitutions. IMO.
Still flying/buzzing/pumped/stoked. Incredible end to an incredible season. Thank you. Good to see the . Not606 gang too. Didn't realise we were only 3pts off a champions league place. They are all champions.
Oh yeah, I'm not going to put everyone into a downer saying how bad we played. It was an enjoyable day. You're right, Shane was off the boil, although his first touch was actually not bad at all. Just didn't really get going. Sadio was indeed too selfish once or twice. But hey, he's a striker and I forgive him because he can be absolutely bloody brilliant. As Badger said, he did his usual lovely stuff, then misplaced a 5 yard pass. I've said enough bad about Victor's passing. He eventually stood in front of the back four and was a rock. Dusan was tackled hard on several occasions. When he took his shin pad out I couldn't see anything, but he showed the Palace player [Ward or Jedinak] what he'd done and that guy went a bit humble. But hey, as you say, we won 4-1. Happy times.
Two goals from cuco crosses. I wondered whether Pelle leant on the defender for his goal, but I won't dwell on it
Just watching Sky Choice and they have done Vic a big favour it seems, they edited all of his badly placed passes out and just kept the good ones!
There was a slight nudge by Pelle, I've seen that given plenty of times. Also, the penalty was probably outside of the box.
I actually didn't get up and celebrate. I thought it was such a blatant push that I was waiting for Oliver to rule it out (and I think part of me had thought that he had done just that). Our first half passing was poor, for once Long just did not get into the game, and Fraser had to pull off a couple of important saves. But Palace were always going to there for the taking, and once we got the penalty we really could have had a sackful.
For me Pardew was always a streaky manager. And he never seems to know why he's on a good streak or a bad streak. If he's on a good streak, he just goes with the flow, keeps his winning team while it works well. And then things suddenly stop to click, he's left dumbfounded by that and starts to chop and change with no obvious logic and for a considerable period he can't win a game of football to save his life, until somehow he stumbles upon a winning combination and thus the cycle starts again.
Well, Onionman Jr's record is intact (for the two people who don't know, he's never seen us finish anything but higher than the previous season). So that means that within either four or five years (dependent on Man U) we're destined to win the league. Good to see the 606 alcoholics again, as ever. Vin
Said on Match Choice that Koeman was furious when the penalty was given to Bertrand, but couldn't make anyone hear. I remember that once before he castigated JWP for not being more forceful and grabbing the ball...but that time he managed to get Fonte's attention and James took the penalty. All's well that ends well, but someone would have got it in the neck if it had all gone wrong.
And JWP nearly teetered into the area in his eagerness to follow up should Bertrand miss. Just stopped himself with a little skip.
Wow. Motd reaches new levels of low. Our best ever position. Fantastic Season. So much to be happy about -- and what do they talk about as "pundits"? Players out over two years. Other teams will want Koeman. **** off. Beyond a joke. Awful.
Yes, Koeman has done well, but he didn't get those players in on his own. Southampton does have a system and a plan...otherwise we wouldn't have done well under successive managers.
I've got to the stage where I just laugh now. I'd probably have died of shock of they hadn't mentioned the 'mass exodus' and Koeman being poached. I just enjoyed seeing the goals again.
