Well done Saints. What a second half to the season. Am I right in thinking that the haul was 39 points from the point when Palace dumped Saints out of the cup? So Saints and Athletic qualify for the group stage of the EL. Brilliant all round.
To my mind the improvement came about with the return of Fraser and a loosening up in the playing style with the striking role alternating between Long, Pelle, Mane, J Rod, and more fluidity in midfield with Davis, Romeu, JWP, Tadic.. No doubt I have forgotten others so help me out, but it must have contributed to the increase in the scoring rate since that fateful FA Cup elimination to Palace.
I will try to 'do a Fran' as i note she's gone a bit positive recently. I used to depend on her 'old Saints' mentality but she become a right happy clapper these days. I will now try to stay awake for MOTD as I'm convinced we will hear b*llocks about Koeman while enjoying GL's kacks. Cheers all.
Just watching the 1st 45 mins again and I don't think I've seen so many misplaced passes from Victor in a single 45 mins, and I've paused it. In the first 10 mins he'd done one, 'cause I said to myself, ah well, Victor's got his token bad pass in early. But there was another, and another, and another. One of them went directly to a Palace player who didn't move. Then there were a couple of hospital passes, that were impossible to win, and then there were passes that his teammates made look good because they rescued them. Bloody awful. If I was bored enough I'd go back and tell you when they happened, but I've got the rest of the match to watch. Anyway, came back here to note that once again, Sadio scores and runs over to the corner with the Away supporters, and wonders why they've kept their arms folded. Someone should tell him for next season. Either that or bloody well move them.
What a day! I made up for having to be on the beach all morning by finding an excellent stream courtesy of the hotel broadband and saw the game. And well done Stoke, too. So we have finished above Liverpool, West Ham, and Chelsea with an outside chance of besting Man U as well. Highest ever points total in the PL, highest position, least number of games lost, and the 6th consecutive season of improvement. I ****ing love football!
Posted this solely for the great shot of the coaching team. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...t-southampton-4-1-crystal-palace-3113613.aspx
Not that long a memory as the dirty skate bastard twice kicked the **** out of Dusan and should have had two yellows!
Might have been a less attractive transfer target when he was suspended for the first twelve games or thereabouts of '16-'17...
