Brutal honesty from Poch. No way would Wenger have given a post-match interview like that had we finished above Arsenal.
Been saying it for ages. The heads need sorting. Totally crumbled. How the **** can you have a mentality that is on holiday when we had something to play for? I hope Poch rattles some ****ing heads. No excuse for that today against Newcastle.
I think there's an untold story in that Chelsea game. One of the most uncharacteristic performances of the season. We utterly, utterly lost our heads and its continued through the next two games. Let the gooners gloat. We'll learn from this, they'll continue with Wenger. Let's be brutal with our recruitment.... Mason, Benteleb, Chadli, Carroll are not right. Strengthen in midfield and forward positions. The last 2 and a half games have been horrific but I refuse to accept that we've reverted back to the norm. We have the youngest squad in the league. We will improve...
I've always had more time for Mackems tbh but it will be a shame to lose the derby next season and a big club with passionate fans is always a loss. Hopefully next season you'll be back up to play us Championship champions v Premier League champions
Wednesday must have been gutting for you so at least you signed off in style...just a shame it was against us
I'm as gutted as anyone. Totally unacceptable performance, but not the first time we've said that in the last few weeks since the title challenge became such a big ask/no longer a possibility. PNP hit the nail on the head a few posts ago regarding the areas of the squad that we need to address. At the start of the season we'd have taken a 3rd place finish, and while it's painful to finish behind Arsenal yet AGAIN, overall it has been a decent season. - There's lots of positives to take, despite the collapse at the end. And yes, now we're officially bottlers. blah blah blah. Last August we'd have all been happy with 3rd place, so let's remember that. It's just the manner in which we've finished 3rd that hurts. I've said this in previous seasons, but a season is 38 games long, not 30-31. Every year we're looking pretty good at the 3/4 of the season mark, but then it all goes wrong. At this point any team (in europe especially) is in need of some fresh legs due to fatigue and/or a busy schedule, and the strengths of a SQUAD really need to shine through. IMO, our failure from this point each year is simply down to never having any players that can come in and do the job that those core players have done so well. - Then the inevitable happens. I've also said this time and time again this season, having learnt from previous campaigns. - We do not have enough options past the "first XI" who can make a difference. Infact, players who can do anything at all!! Yes, there's a few defensive options that can generally do a decent job in Davies, Trippier and Wimmer, but beyond our front attacking 6 of Dier, Dembele, Lamela, Alli, Kane and Eriksen we're utterly ****ed. This needs to be seriously looked at in the summer. We're lucky that this group have gelled so well this season and all know each others games inside out. - Not to mention the fact that there's barely been any injuries to them. - Take 1 out and we're pretty crap. Take 2 out and we're shambolic, as we've seen since the absences of Alli and Dembele. Next season, we're no longer trying to just compete for a top 4 spot to get in the CL. We've done that now, and actually have to compete in the competition itself, meaning a step up in quality each week, as well as simultaneously trying to secure another top 4 finish. We have to push on and better ourselves, learning from this year's mistakes, but also taking a lot of the positives from this season. Unfortunately, there are many players IMO, who are not up to joining that journey or have big question marks over their head. Apart from the "First XI" and the 3 names I've mentioned above, the rest can go as far as I'm concerned. They are not up to par and offer us **** all. We need some seriously decent signings in the summer. Players who are PL and CL ready that can either add class, pull the strings, change a game or offer experience. It's actually a miracle Kane has stayed fit all season. Just imagine if he'd sustained any sort of injury? Anyway, today hurts. But i'm not angry or pissed off like a lot of fans. I've gotten used to the same sort of finish every season. It's always gutting, but until the day comes where we sign the players that our manager really wants early in the summer, it'll always be the same. But hopefully this year will be different. Poch has done a great job so far and changed many things for the better. Now's the time to back him and these players. Over to you Levy.
We will definitely improve. They lost any chance of winning the league and with it went all their fight. It happens to us all and we all usually learn.. Its called experience. Let's hope we use these experiences to benefit us.
Heaven forbid we loose the likes of Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele or Lloris next season. we'll be relegation meat along with Leicester.
And you enjoy this...how? Or more accurately...why? I find it bizarre that supporters of utterly irrelevant clubs who haven't posted on this board all season suddenly turn up to gloat. It is so classless.
"Only yours will make the headlines though, as memories in the season are too short to remember any of the PL title failures bar the last to slip away." <fixed>
Translated to: "In the last couple of weeks we didn't have 100% of our first team available, it's impossible to win games. After the chelsea game something happened, where another of our best players was banned. As a result, we could not cope with the reminaing games, as the replacement players I had at my disposal are absolute ****e."
I never gloated son. all i said was i find it astonishing that you have been one of the best sides all season and you go and bottle it big style......that's not gloating at all....I know you must be miffed because i would be but im far from being a gloater....
What is the "it" you write of ?? The PL title ?? Surely that was a couple of weeks ago. And I don't recall you posting here (ever) at that moment ...
We seem to be your bogey team <just one of those things I guess> As much as it was disappointing for Spurs fans today, you've got to look at the bigger picture....your best season for years, the chance to improve next season, a bloody good manager, a bloody good squad. You've a lot to look forward to. See you all in 2017-2018 hopefully!
"thats 3 years of you finishing below us then" Most Spurs supporters can live with another 3 seasons like this one. Your lot OTOH ...
