Makes you think...4 more points (allowing for GD) would have got us Champions League. Mustn't be greedy.
Crikey, must have been about 4 or 5 times so far. Obviously, when Koeman opens his mouth, they stick their fingers in theirs ears and go la-la-la-la.
The BBC text commentary page joins in: "Ronald Koeman looks proud as punch as he walks around the St Mary's pitch with his players. But, with Everton said to be circling, will he still be there next season?" They do mitigate it quite a bit though: "If Europa League football, and a second half of the season only bettered by champions Leicester, won't tempt him then surely nothing will..."
Which was what a couple of us were going on about, a few days ago, regards the form just before Christmas. We got 4 points from 24 back then. Another 4 was so easy to get. Beating both Stoke and Villa at home would have got us the necessary extra. Ah well. Be greedy [in football].!
United game still important for Bournemouth as well as their hosts...they could finish 2 places higher. That's worth money as well as making them feel a little better about their season.
Easy to say that now, but those two games were a struggle, we were playing pretty poor. Villa were crap, but was relived they didn't take a chance near the end that would have seen us lose. Seriously, don't dwell on missed points.
A good profesional performance today. Palace could really have provided the banana skin, but Saints got through a sticky 1st 30mins. Great to get back into Europe again, let's hope it starts in the group stage. Up the Saints.
Forgetting completely that they were told I'm staying at Southampton just Friday. What does it take for media people to NOT drum up a non-story.?
BUT, at that point if any one said Europa League and 5th/6th place back then I'd would've bitten their whole arm off. After WH scored today I was firmly in 'old Saints' mode, ie here comes the sh*t. Now, I just want to enjoy it, and look forward to the future. Cheers all, Shiraz open.
Indeed. And to think someone on BBC Sport asked if the game was now worth playing. Honest. It's actually against the rules for it not to be played.
And are you now determined to shake off the old Saints attitude once and for all, and leave back where it belongs before July 2009.?
Gonna need a bigger squad. Maybe 2-3 players in + replacements for who exits. Hopefully some fringe/academy players can step up and fill one or two of those spaces.
Ron looking all happy and repeating that he likes it at Southampton and wants to stay. Cue: Jeff Stelling....RK will stay if board shows ambition. Does he have to write it in blood? He talked about ambition, but do you think that he is not clear we have ambition. He knows roughly what he will be told at his talk with Les and he looks happy.
Indeed. Have that bloody 5 minute talk, with Les, please Ron so that the media can stop banging their incessant bleeding drum.
