Ripon 4.45 Sagely 9-4 A really strong bet on a horse that I think will be found to be ahead of her mark. She beat what could be a reasonably well handicapped horse on her all weather seasonal debut, and it was cosy to say the least. I will be very surprised if Sagely does not win well and 9-4 looks fair. 4.10 Swift emperor 5-2 Not as strong a suggestion but looks to have a good chance. Good luck all
Killarney 4.50 Sandymount Duke 5/4 You'd struggle to say a 5/4 shot looks value but in this case it absolutely is. Makes its chase debut which usually brings caution to me but Harrington can ready them for the job and he did jump his hurdles pretty big so I'm not concerned about the jumping in this field. I think this horse should be long odds on. The form of his last race over hurdles puts it miles clear of them, he loves the good ground he will get, this really looks to be a case of how far.
A Great View 3.40. Killarney 7/1 Looks capable of taking this after a couple of decent runs on this mark provided he likes the better ground. Missy Tata 2.35. Killarney 8/11 Hosed up in a decent mares hurdle at Punchestown. She gets a useful fillies allowance. Doubled with Sandymount Duke 4.50. Killarney 5/4
One of the outsiders is Syrita in the French 1000 Guineas, trained by M Nigge. I heard, through a trusted member of the county set, that Nicky Henderson bumped into him at a French jumps meet once and greeted him with "Wassup, M Nigge" Assume that there was rather an imbalance of G opposed to the old T at breakfast that morning, though it is only an assumption.
La Cressonniere 7/1 in the fillies, dont think Qemah has the gears to match her. Zelzal 9/2 in the colts, would love to see Zarak win for the queen Zarkava and he looks sure to go close but might best on soft.
2:10 Market Rasen - Topamichi 50/1 ew no info nor is it really a strong fancy. Its a speculative hopeful punt that this horse can put it together over hurdles and can prove to be a bit better than the price would suggest. Was an half decent horse on the flat and if can take to jumping at the third attempt could sneak a place
JOHNS SPIRIT looks absolutely thrown in on his latest revised mark doesn't he? (Apologies in advance if he loses)
A trusted member of the county set, TopClass? God.........damn, I'd better get on.... please log in to view this image ....to the bookies....
Will take a chance with the French-bred Morianour in the bumper at Stratford (17:35). 8/1 best at the moment.
A Touch of Sass at 11.00 in the 13:50 at Stratford Cuppacoffee at 5.00 in the 14:30 at Ripon Blackfire at 9.00 in the 14:40 at Market Rasen Mountain Eagle at 3.50 in the 15:25 at Stratford Good luck! http://freebetcalc.com/odds-calculator/yankee-calculator?prefill=11.00,5.00,9.00,3.50
I've had similar thoughts on his last 2 runs and he's got beat both times. Thomas Crapper is in that race too and he's become my latest cliff horse so my money is with him. Network Rouge (Market Rasen 3.15) and Presenting Streak (2.20 Stratford) are my other fancies. I shall not be apologising if any of them lose because if you follow my tips on here your a ****ing idiot!
Apologies for my tardy arrival, I had to wait until Tanya had got off my pole. I wish the French had not moved their Guineas back a week to coincide with the Pentecost holiday weekend. I would have gone to Deauville today but there is no train from Caen to Trouville until two in the afternoon and a 23 mile taxi would be the best part of €50. In the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, Jean-Claude Rouget’s Qemah is re-opposed by Chantilly victims Kenriya and Antonoe but I see no grounds for a reversal of form. Rouget also runs the unbeaten La Cressonniere and a pacemaker in his hat-trick bid. The 1000 Guineas third Alice Springs and fifth Nathra will give us an interesting form line between this and the Newmarket race. Andre Fabre’s Godolphin filly Come Alive has to be respected. The burden of my support goes to William Haggas’ BESHARAH. She disappointed in the Fred Darling – run on the polytrack at Chelmsford – but I am prepared to give her another chance back on turf and Christophe Soumillon is a notable booking. Given the poor recent record of foreign raiders in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains it is easy to rule out the British and Irish contingent, although I would like to see Birchwood and Crazy Horse run well. The home team is led by the impeccably bred Zarak, unbeaten in two with George Patton behind last time. Dicton beat Taareef to complete a 2016 hat-trick; however, having opposed Jean-Claude Rouget in the fillies’ Classic, I am going with his impressive Chantilly winner ZELZAL to collect a Classic for Sea The Stars.
Killarney has to be one of the most picturesque settings of a race course around.Any others jump to mind? http://www.google.ie/search?site=webhp&tbm=isch&source=hp&ei=I3E4V-zsOabdgAayoYSwCQ&q=killarney race track&oq=killarrney ra&gs_l=mobile-gws-hp.1.0.0i13l5.1226.13101.0.14459.24.19.5.1.1.0.248.1721.14j4j1.19.0....0...1c.1.64.mobile-gws-hp..0.24.1696.3..0j41j0i10i24j0i24.sEdQ9xZRDQ8#tbm=isch&q=killarney horse racing&imgrc=STp62EwnuhrE3M:
It's beautiful there isn't it. I used to visit the Killarney and Tralee area twice a year when my sister lived down that part of the country, so peaceful and relaxed down there. Worth a visit for anyone who hasn't ventured that far. Can't think of any others right now but I'm sure there is lots of nice ones, Hexham is supposedly pretty scenic but I've only seen it from my TV.
Russian Soul 13/2 caught my eye today in the 2.45 @ Navan. Has been in decent form this season, even running well in defeat at Lingfield a few times along with his Dundalk exploits. He was beaten 5.75 lengths into 11th in this race last season carrying 10.05 on his back, a fair burden in a relatively short sprint. Today represents a much more realistic chance for him running against some familiar old foes once more and Shane Foley can hopefully get a nice spin out of him today. I'm also going to take a shot in the dark on Dragon Fei 33/1 in the 3.55 at Navan. Began her hurdling career last season and opened her account in fine style but then proved regressive although she ran in decent company, she has had 2 recent spins on the flat on bad ground and a return to sounder surface and also back into a weaker grade, I'm hoping she can run a place at least. She usually travels strongly into her races, a strong pace today and the return to 10 furlongs should help her cause...jockey P J O'Hanlon takes a handy 10lbs off too although my knowledge of him after this is limited. Small each way.
