Good Benitez quotes from today: Will NUFC secure immediate promotion back to the Premier League? - “If I am in charge I hope yes. But if I am not in charge I wish them all the best. “It is a massive club so we have to wait and see how the conversations go on, then after hopefully they will be with me.” Will he still be at NUFC next season? - “I like the idea and I’m really pleased to be here. “We are working hard here so everything is fine as a professional and what you are looking for. “What you are looking for is respect and somebody who appreciates your job and here it has been fantastic. “It’s a big challenge but at the same time we have to wait and see how the conversations get on. “And after that we will decide.”
Based on what he has come out and said today, the backlash that Ashley and co will face if he decides to walk away and leave will be unimaginable. If he does walk away then at least we will know exactly why without any shadow of a doubt. I can't believe for one second that Ashley cannot see this either. Lets just hope charnley can see it as well and doesn't **** this up!
If Rafa goes I can guarantee the ground will be half empty at kick off in the Championship. Supporters will have had enough of this regime, especially Charnley, Carr & Moncur after their disgraceful behaviour this season. £80m spent mostly on sh.te and an even worse manager. Can you imagine next year if McClaren gets the Cardiff job and has to face us at St James Park, he'll **** himself.
If Rafa leaves now there will be a civil war that will make every other protest seem like a storm in a teacup.
Its obviously not as simple as that, but it will give us the best chance possible. Rafa is clearly a strong character and it looks like he wants to clear out all of the dead wood.............. from top to bottom. It also looks like he just might get that control. Not many other managers would be given such a free reign. Certainly non of them have so far. There are not many true football professionals at the top table at NUFC, so if Rafa can push some of those no-marks aside and get proper people in, then that has to be a good thing. The current set up is rotten and just doesn't work.
More from Rafa: “If I stay it is because I want to win, not because I want to stay here in the Championship for 10 years,” “That is not my target; my target if I stay is one year in the Championship and five in the Premier League.” “If I decide to stay it is because I have confidence we can get the job done, for sure.” “Like I say before, what I want is like the fans – a strong team capable to promote quickly and to compete at the maximum level.”
Undoubtedly RB has managed better clubs ans won more than SA..that is a fact. SA often has come under criticism for his style of football..that is also true and we will see what happens next season for us. However is Rafa Benitez the manager to get you out of the Championship?
Like a lot of people in the next month or so he will be weighing up his options and seeing if bigger slots open up.
It sounded like "please come and get me or I'm stuck at this hellhole" to me! But if he does stay, 2 wins in 10 games? You'ver found your new messiah!
thing about benitez is the defensive side I like ..one thing lacking for many years ..lets hope he stays and changes the way things are run ..im sure that's the sticky point if any ... good managers attract good players ..mackems never had one so they don't know the diff ...fingers crossed
