This new professional team in the United Soccer League (USL, not the same as MLS) today played their 4th home game, beating Pittsburgh 1-0 in front of over 23,000 paying fans. They are now joint top of the league. They are managed by John Harkes, former US Men's National Team captain, who played five years in England for Sheffield Wednesday and Derby in the early 1990s. The beautiful game is really starting to catch on over here! Maybe an off-season friendly could be arranged against the Marty Targers? [Edit: corrected the last line.]
I dunno. But I believe they want to get into the MLS. What I find remarkable is the size of the attendances in a city with a major "Throwball" team (the Bengals) and a major baseball team (the Cincinnati Reds).
