Great achievement. I would be concerned that they have over achieved. At least some of the teams will bring a good away support.
NFU request that every year but it is apparently not something taken into consideration by the league when arranging fixtures It may be somewhere for the non City members to go for a local football fix
This surely has to rank as one of the greatest achievements in semi professional football? They are just a village team? It is bloody remarkable. We should be offering to loan more of our fringe players.
Have they had money backing to bring players in though? That's what I heard on other forums, could just be jealousy I suppose.
They actually cut their wage bill massively this season releasing many on contract & reducing the wages of others at the end of last season (resulting in the resignation of long time chairman Les Hare) so I'd definitely say jealousy
Giddy heights at the minute for a Ferriby and all Cedit to th squad,in the back ground is manager Billy Heath who I reckon will get snapped up soon by a league club.
It's ****in hilarious that GY and Lincoln will be playing there next season, it's like they've found their level at last. On the other hand, some of the snooty folks round there are in for a rude awakening next season. I can see allotments getting raided and runner beans getting trampled etc
The commentator on BT for the Grimsby game has just said that if Forest Green win, they'll be the first village to have a team in the football league. Quite a target for Ferriby to claim that title if Grimsby win.
too late, i googled it. forest green don't play in a village. typical commentator. http://www.nailsworthtowncouncil.gov.uk/
They really don't want them. The view of the board is that they don't want to be seen as 'Hull City reserves'. We've offered them loads of players (including Margetts, Dougie Wilson, Ben Hinchcliffe, Ben Clappison, Max Clark and ter Horst) in the past and they've turned them down. The only one I can think of is Sam Topliss, who is now there permanently. Before that it was Nicky Featherstone. I don't blame them to be honest, they haven't needed them.
