    Jazz Sax but classical piano. Don't mind playing classical pieces as long as they are interesting.

    I wrote a sax piece on Sibelius (music writing software) for music GCSE, but it was crap. Haven't really written anything else. I apparently good at improvising.

    I'm a huge fan of both jazz and classical. Can play quite a few instruments and I'm also teaching myself piano which is not so tough since I'm already a decent organist but I wish I'd started younger and was at your level by 16.. fantastic.
    Also have always fancied a go at bass clarinet too ever since I first heard Eric Dolphy, will probably give it a go one day. Coming from a string, brass and keyboard background would you say the sax would be particularly hard to get started with?

    Seriously though, if you're into your music at all you could do far worse than getting a bass guitar. You can learn some simple tunes mega easily and it's satisfying as hell, without having to learn more complicated chords of a guitar. I play bass and guitar quite well and do recordings for bands so my life is totally wrapped up in music but I've got a few lads into playing bass because it's easy to learn. It's cheap too, you never have to replace the strings and you only need to fork out once for a bass and amp.

    Oh, and the chicks love it <ok>

    Yeah but it's pretty ****...i play it too and it's just playing the same note 8 times then another times.......but then again, i am **** at it

    I've played it for 5 years and hadn't played the clarinet or any other reed instrument. Id already got to grade 3 on piano and because of that it wasn't hard to start.

    I agree. Playing bass is much sexier than playing the guitar


    I'm gonna be generic too and say that I play a shed load of instruments.

    That's what everyone thinks bass is - you can play riffs and tunes on basses too! Listen to some Joy Division or Gang of Four etc etc etc there's so so many and you'll see my point

    They're probably not the best examples for cracking bass riffs - depends what music you like really - but I like them and I'm too lazy to think <whistle>
