Feck the horsies lads, big question is what is the value bet in Eurovision tonight! I'll be following proceedings closely!
2.10 Newbury - Mehmas - Very taken by his debut win, he had a wide draw at Chester over 5f and didn't have the best of trips but as soon as they straightened up he flew home to win going away. The 4th has won a listed race since and the form looks very solid. 3.20 Newbury - Sunflower - Was 33/1 in the Cheveley park and ran a nice race finishing 6th 6lengths off some of the best of last years 2 yo fillies. She is still completely unexposed and will appreciate this drop in grade. For small stakes at bigger prices i like the following - Smaih - 1.50 Nmkt Resilliency - 3.00 nmkt Show Stealer - 4.10 nmkt Diamond Lady - 5.15 - nmkt Spark Plug - 5.35 Nbry
So far just the one bet and that is TOORMORE. THE Hannons have done well over the years in this race and I think they reckon he is one of the best milers around this season. Will love the ground too. Large bet at 9/2.
I backed Desert Encounter last night (I was tired) and now see Frank is riding . edit: thank fek, he just about managed to not stuff it up!
Agree, Grecian Mick, Toormore is a rattling good miler. Can hardly not have a punt on him in the Lockinge.
Mr Mullins has sent Nichols Canyon and Shaneshill over to the good old US of A for the Iroquois Hurdle (new one to me that). The bookies expecting the great man to be cheered and 'yeehaaaed' into the winners enclosure with NC Evens jolly, Shaneshill 13/8. Having seen the American hurdles, they seem maybe a bit bigger than what we have so that may explain the relative closeness in the market with Shaneshill experience over fences meaning perhaps he is more suited to the new obstacles.
Log Out Island you beauty! Don't worry I'd no money riding on him. Just great to see that performance. Loved the horse last year but he went off the rails after early promise and back with a demolition win today.
The winner of the race also qualifies for a bonus at Cheltenham if they can land the world hurdle as well I believe.
I assume the race is on turf Beefy? Had to laugh just then, Rishi just before the off in the King Charles "I'm expecting to see a hold up ride from Jamie Spencer on Dragon Mall here" no **** Sherlock
I haven't had a bet since Aintree and am enjoying my racing much more ...................... just watch and enjoy. Contrary to the bookies ads, it doesn't mean more when you've money riding on it.
Yeah and I didn't realise it's over 3m either when I wondered earlier why Shaneshill was as close in the betting as he is. Can we deduce whoever wins this then is Mullins World Hurdle horse next year with the bonus up for grabs??? If Shaneshill wins, would they dare send Nichols Canyon chasing, seems hugely unlikely. The result the other way round would suit, as Shaneshill obviously has fencing experience under his belt. Another Irish trainer Michael Smith sends RAWNAQ over as well. Currently 3rd in the betting this one has some decent form to his name but hasn't been seen since the Galway Hurdle last July
Until the week before the Festival anyway, when Willie decides to switch them just like he done with outstanding success last year with Black Hercules, Vautour and Yorkhill
Great ride by AA although the only horse I'm taking out of that for future reference is Endless Drama. Another win for Godolphin. Another winner they didn't breed or buy as a yearling and another high profile winner trained outside their private stables. Wonder when the penny will actually drop.
