You all paved the way, I was just building on the foundations laid down by the rest of you to be honest.
That's a path-etic excuse. The cracks are starting to appear in your argument. You should be keeping an eye on all of those lowly plebs you have working for you or they will be walking all over you.
You need to curb your enthusiasm incase you fall down the cracks and knock over the kids playing hop-scotch (do they still do that or is it all computer games?
Sounds like the negotiations are actually going reasonably well in terms of travelling back and forth to Liverpool, vision for the future etc. but as this article says the sticking point will be recruitment and Carr's influence. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...s/rafa-benitezs-demands-arent-salary-11327849 In my mind Carr is probably more to blame than Charnley or Ashley - not that I'm sticking up for them, they all have a LOT of egg on their face but Carr does have the most!!! - He is the one who brings in the overpaid, underperforming players , he recommended McClaren and will have pushed his case for him to stay on as long as he did, he is the one who is meant to help the manager get the players THEY want not who he wants - lets face it the majority of these French signings are an excuse to go down to the Mediterranean for a holiday and then he just picks a name out the hat. All we really need to do is sack Carr - how long is left on that 8 year contract - or move him to board room level with no say on transfers, tell Charnley to go back to writing out team sheets and whatever other admin ****e he did before, keep Ashley well out of the picture and open his cheque book again and give Rafa 99% of control.
Rafa will stay in my opinion. He knows the potential of the club and he has massive self belief. He will stay at least until January.
I would guffaw at that....but this is the club who unearthed a fossilised Joe Kinnear, gave Alan Pardew an 8 year contract, and gave the walking disaster that is Steve McClaren a brief of getting the team into the top 8, so nothing would surprise me! Can't read too much into these Rafa's staying rumours, obviously he respects the fans and won't resign before the final game, so he has to go along to this meeting, but there's been no rumours that he's gonna leave for a while, and the fact the club is willing to change it's ******ed "Graham Carr is always right" transfer policy is gonna be a good incentive.
To have a season in the Championship to build momentum and get the squad he wants, playing the way he wants, could only be a positive. Benitez is world-class and keeping him would almost guarantee us a quick return.
What is even being discussed. The convo should be... Rafa - 'I want full control on transfers' Mike - 'Done...Graham your off to Raqqa. Find us a bargain'
Guilem was on talk sh**e today echoing his comments saying the talks were positive. We should be optimistic... It's the hope that kills you...
Carr has offered to resign twice now, I believe, and it's been refused by the feckless halfwit Charnley. The problem for me is Lee Charnley. Ashley may be a billionaire, and a genuinely limited human being with a merciless nature, but he is not deliberately aiming for 17th nor is he trying to get the club relegated. For me, he trusted Charnley with judgements. That's a mistake, of course, an obvious one to the layperson but i sympathise. I mean, anyone who works in a corporate environment will have dozens of stories of directors, senior people, getting to the top through bullshitery, brown-nosing and very little else. Charnley's just another who can't believe his luck, with his head so far up his boss's a$$ it's a surprise he doesn't talk with Ashley's accent. I can only hope that Rafa has opened Ashley's eyes to the possibility there are trustworthy people out there who also have the intelligence/experience to positively affect change.
I have wondered for a long time why NUFC seems to be being run solely for the benefit of Graham ****ing Carr. Whats the big deal with this guy? Just ****ing give him the push.................... 8 year contract this, offering to resign that....................... ****s sake.
