I agree, GM. I also think it's AN's right to choose who he wants working with him. Strangely enough, I was in favour of Phelan taking over after Adams and dubious about AN when he came in, being heavily shouted down by most on here. I'm now heavily in favour of AN staying on. Yes he's made some mistakes - all managers do, but I feel that he is very much the manager to head our promotion push.

I'm not sure that Wiki account is totally accurate really. The dates are right, but my recollection is that Phelan resigned to go to Hull. That was when we were in the Championship and they were in the PL. We went up and they came down, so not much sign of a telling impact really.

I am pretty much in agreement with the OP. I get very little pleasure from hoping that we can hang on for a nil nil draw every week and gain a point. Far more enjoyable to be in contention for promotion throughout the season whether or not we ultimately gain promotion. For me the best recent experience was the Lambert years.

Hi General bor, thanks for the correction, but basically it doesn't alter that Phelan was never offered the manager's position but appointed on a temporary basis, unfortunately we will never know the truth of what happened, no explanation was offered by the club at the time.

Like me I see you think NA wanted to do things his own way and didn't want Phelan around. It has been acknowledged by others that NA was a novice manager and had he utilised the knowledge Phelan had there would have been a better chance we would not be where we are today.

I am not in favour of relieving AN of his position, he is now a wiser person and now has experience of the English top league which should stand in good stead in the future.

It's interesting what AN had to say about all this in the Pink'Un:

“The bottom line is Norwich is a club that have been in the Premier League for four of the last five years but always in and about the bottom end of the table. We do not have someone who can plough £40m, £50, £60m into it on a whim,” he said. “We are a well-run club, we live within our means but that has certain restrictions. Those were restrictions I knew were in place when I came here so that is not a surprise to me by any stretch of the imagination. This is a great club and I have no problems or qualms in terms of people giving me support or backing me at all.

“Should there be any talk about the ownership? Definitely not for me. Michael and Delia have Norwich in their hearts and they do everything they possibly can to make it grow and push it forward. I think people have short memories. Remember seven years ago when the club was in League One and these are the same owners who took the club from where it was then and put them into the Premier League for four out of the last five years."

Rick, I referred to a similar article in #87, conveniently ignored by most on here - I wonder why ;)

I'll tell you exactly why your opinions differ from others.
    Age.

The posters that just harp on about being grateful we have a club to support and not wanting to compete against vulgar money orientated teams in a greedy league are mainly old.
I mean over 60s the same people that hate trainers and haircuts and nightclubs and going to Ibiza on holiday driving fast ,eating junk food drinking too much or even taking drugs.
You have lived your life and seem content to just sit in your chair complaining about the modern World .
Posters that still have a zest for life attend games and want to share a vision of a successful Norwich City are probably under 60.
There may be some exceptions but that seems to be the trend.
Dave's visit to Carrow Road was his first in something like thirty (30) years and Lord only knows the last time you went RBF probably the Nineteen thirties (1930s ).

Paying out good money to see your side lose week in week out is painful and they have a louder voice than the people that don't go literally.

I'm not sure which KIO fits into probably 50s old and miserable but can still get an erection.

    Bit harsh dude.

I'm one of the "older" posters (hence the monicker) and I have four pairs of trainers, have my haircut once a fortnight (Number 2 on top and Number 1 sides and back), would never go to Ibiza (prefer the USA), drive 40k miles a year, mostly just over the speed limit, can't eat junk food as half my teeth are falling out, don't drink, gave up drugs years ago and absolutely hate nightclubs as I prefer "live" music (off to see The Manic Street Preachers tomorrow and The Stereophonics on Monday).

I am a season ticket holder in the Jarrold and absolutely love my club. I don't want it owned by some feckless foreigner who would have to Google Norwich to see where on earth it is. I do want my club to be successful and to play good exciting football but I don't like seeing some of the dross we have turned out recently as it isn't our way.

Oh, and I can still get an erection but have a small penis.

I must admit it was shameless fishing , this post stems from an afternoon with my 76 year old dad after he insisted I shred all my post that was sent to his house rather than throw it in the recycling bin just In case I get a cyber criminal clone my identity.

You sir almost certainly live a more active lively life than me and I just turned 40.

Obviously there are exceptions as I stated but the thread title rather than the threads contents got my Ruddy goat as a defeatist old git statement.

Apologies KIO if you do suffer from erectile dysfunction.

Old isn´t synonymous with stupid or senile you know, and just to put you right on a few other things, I haven´t lived my life yet, and not even being born in the 1930´s, I have considerably more zest for life than you could possibly imagine, but unfortunaltely living abroad makes attending home games rather more difficult than for those living in Norfolk. And just because those who pay good money each week may feel they have a louder voice, it certainly doesn´t count any more in the ´loyal supporters club´ than any of us who don´t.

You´re entitled to your opinion, even if it does come across as particularly warped at times, but then, so are the pensioners amongst us.

Oh, and one other thing, at least the ´over 60´s Club´ can hold a structured, salient debate without resorting to obscenities.
